coltboostin
Its funny how much the little things take the most time. Keep at it!
Geeesammy
So went to put my trans in, it fell on my finger and cut it real deep. Looks like this thing won't get done before winter. Could get it done but what would I do with it in december? Lol Bought some rear tires for it on closeout from tire rack though. All seaons but they won't have a long life expectancy once the clutch break in is done and dyno time is over lol So I may go buy a 2jzgte vvti this winter and plan on killing my engine if I can at some point next year so I can extract some revenge. Still got some small wiring things done yesterday which felt good but still pissed. Edited September 20, 2015 by Geeesammy
Geeesammy
These came in today, only 275's, test fitting with these to see how a 295 or 315 would do. http://i.imgur.com/FX47dKa.jpg Also got in all my fmic components

I can't complete my lower pipe, nobody around to help, and with my back taking a complete shit, it's all just sitting there collecting dust. Same boat as you now with winter coming, what's the point? haha

Geeesammy
Got the new wheels on it, 275's fit nice, little bit of room left in the rear so next set I will bump up to 295's. http://i.imgur.com/1m9CAnf.jpg Kind of not wanting to do straight line stuff with this car anymore, leaning more towards HPDE so I bought some '01 Mercedes S500 front calipers, they bolt right up and are 4 piston setup. Going to run a 350Z touring rotor with this and I'll have a sub $400 13" brake kit up front. Trying to put together a kit for the rear using Evo/STi stuff. Hoping to have enough cash to buy Fortune Auto coilovers within the next week or two. 2 weeks from now my schedule opens up quite a bit so I will have a lot of time to work on this. Got some more fuel pump wiring done, and threw the filters on, getting the regulator setup and return side done so I can get some E85 in the tank and check for leaks. This weekend or the following weekend I should have time to cut up the piping for the FMIC and it will be ready to fire up and drive around. 10phone2
just stumbled on this adapter kit for 2z>VQ trans for 1k. not sure if you saw it: http://www.maverick-motorsports.com/products/jz-vq-transmission-adapter-plate
Geeesammy
I wouldn't mind spending that kind of money for the trans, but my friend has ran into an issue on his CD009 setup that has made me put the idea on hold. Basically the 009 won't fit in the stock shifter location and uses a u joint to shift or something? Not sure, either way he threw engineering gibberish at me involving some weird shit about the shifter. He says what he has done won't work, but it seems to work in my eyes. Others have done it but his pride won't let him ask, I'm too lazy and I'm not too worried about it right now, my rear diff Will pop before the trans....I hope. Geeesammy
Update just for Paul. Put my new Brian Crower valve springs, Titanium retainers and valve stem seals in. Along the way found a broken valve spring, some odd pitting on 2 cam journals which I have fixed as well as I can without taking the head off to a machine shop and good news being I don't have to drill out rivets to remove my baffling inside my valve covers to get them powdercoated. Pics The OE bullshit http://i.imgur.com/3DLckjG.jpg The good shit http://i.imgur.com/PifEQRg.jpg First set of springs and valve stem seals I've done with a JZ in a car. Lot easier than on an engine stand. No bobbing and bouncing. Cotton balls to avoid a keeper ending up in the oil galleys, luckily I had no issues with keepers. http://i.imgur.com/xwRY3eF.jpg Clearly the engineers at Toyota anticipated this being a job getting done on all JZ swapped MK3's so my ass fit comfortably in the area between the bumper and radiator support. I used a rope to keep the valves up, air is overrated. http://i.imgur.com/cZc2fbY.jpg Dwigg's and his NASA crew would be ashamed http://i.imgur.com/vM0dhLM.jpg End result http://i.imgur.com/nqEJijC.jpg Just gotta decide on 264 cams or 272's. I like the idea of 272's so when I get the stones to take it to 9,000 rpm I still have power. Like the thought of 264's for more average power. Need to decide which and order it. The fuel system is a 160* fitting away from being done. Also gotta reassemble with the new cams and measure the valve lash. Going to shimless buckets which is going to help me rev a considerable amount higher. Idea's for these? Lamp? Baseball bat? Prosthetic penis? http://i.imgur.com/cZYaEOA.jpg
10phone2
silly question time: with new springs and retainers being installed, do you still have to measure for clearance individually for each valve when going to shimless? coltboostin
may have missed that-but is that a billet 62mm?

Same money regardless, might as well get more cam It's not running yet. It'll run when it runs. No use of rushing because I'll end up pissed off and losing motivation like I have before.
