Looks like a fake tial gate to me.

Also look into mojo performance on the coils. Much easier than piecing a set of lq9 coils together yourself. You can get a set of brackets with the wire harness and all hardware & used tested coils for cheap.

Yeah fake gate, it'll just get TiAL parts. I'm going with 1ZZ coils instead of LQ9's. Cheaper and come in all kinds of econobox's.

Been down with the flu for a few days, to make it crappier this nice weather would have been a nice time to get a lot of work done. But I did sell a few parts and wanted to get them shipped, the main one being the ECU. Not a high dollar item but I'm ordering ProEFI once I pick up a new daily.

The old "New Ecu"

I know it's hard to make wiring look good when it's a whole new engine setup, but some of the stuff that I couldn't get a picture of was just unreal. Wires just barely twisted together with no butt connector or heat shrink tubing, duct tape being used in places I couldn't imagine, and a few paperclips were used to bridge the gap between two wires that were too short to connect in a few instances. Glad I took all this apart. I was having a lot of electrical issues with the car, it would lean way out around 2,000-3,000 rpm, then dump fuel from 3,100-3,500 when I was out of boost cruising at part throttle. In addition I was having a lot of battery drain/draw issues, I'm sure this stuff was at least part of, if not the issue.

I shot the previous owner a text just to give him an update on the car, I ended up talking to him quite a bit and he told me who did the swap, of course curiosity killed the cat and I googled the name... here is just a brief summary of what I found. Who knows what else I'm gonna find in this thing that has been half-assed.

But anyways. Hopefully the next update will look something like this...

Not sure if I missed it before, but where did you pick this car up from? Got me curious since your last post.

A guy in Franklin, just south of Dayton. He didn't do much of the work himself, the car has been through a lot of different hands that have worked on it. I'm kind of starting from scratch now, so everything should be better.

Ah this reminds me of my car.

If you get too deep keep in mind SP is always there to come to the rescue. I was beyond confused with my wireing. I took it to larry and he was happy to help me get the car squared away.

I understand its much cheaper to do it yourself, but if you find yourself beating your head into a wall, there are some people out there who can help!

My buddy Dustin who has built a few harness's for ProEFI's in the past is gonna be helping me through it. The harness seems pretty easy, we will see if that holds true.... lol

My project sounds very similar to yours, a few different people over the years getting their hands on a car and throwing in their two cents. We all have heard the horror stories of buying someone elses "Project"...a few of us have experienced it.

Can't wait to see it finished and running right!

Def do. Ill grab the duct tape and super glue on the way home. If I've got any left over ill grab some titanium bits

First update in a few months, started a new job and spent most my money on tools.

Bought this today along with an Ethanol analyzer, plug and pin kit, and a few other things.

Went with a 48 just so I could save $1,000 or more and get it running, still gonna run flex fuel but just no rolling anti lag or sequential injection.

Next things I need to buy are Precision "1200cc"...basically 120 lb/hr injectors since I need a 14mm "domestic" size, fuel rail, clutch set, FMIC kit, supplies to build a harness to include but not limited to wire, new connectors for sensors, and other little things.

Hoping to get the stock twins off tomorrow, I was gonna pull the engine to remove them but I can't find anyone willing to lend the stand and cherry picker to me, plus I don't have a truck to transport it all so I'll just be taking some tools home from work and making it happen.

Got this rats nest out last week

I hope you got a deal on that plug and pin kit... mine would have been cheaper!

It came with the ecu, it was already pinned, spent a few minutes last night de-pinning it. I do know someone who needs a Plug and pin kit for a 128 though. Ill PM you on FaceBook

Sooooooooo....

I haven't thought about this car for the past few months really outside of going back and forth with either

A. Parting it out and scrapping or selling the shell.

B. Throwing an LSx in it with a T56

C. Getting it done a little cheaper so I could justify doing it. While still saving up for a house and a few other big purchases I need to make in the next 2-3 years.

Ended up deciding on C. finally after buyers for the engine and transmission flaked (no surprise.

Sold my ProEFI 48 a few months back as I wanted to go to either their new 118 setup, or the 128, but wasn't wanting to spend $2,000 just for an ecu, plus another $500 for the plug/pin kit and wiring as well as connectors, etc.

Decided to change things up and learn some more along the way. Buying a Megasquirt 3 with the "3X" board add on as well as a few modules in addition to that so I can do what I want with it. It'll be a fraction of the cost and it can do everything the ProEFI can except rolling ricer anti lag.

I got the pre-built 10' harness for it, hopefully those come in soon as it has been almost a month. Pretty nifty as it comes color-coded and has what each wire is written on it.

I'm placing the order for my clutch disc and pressure plate within the next few weeks so I can throw the trans back in it as well as the driveshaft once I throw some new U-joints in it.

I also bought an .84 A/R Twin Scroll Turbine housing as well. Hoping after this all comes in I'll get the turbo hung on the engine and make all my oil feed/return lines for the turbo. No pics yet unfortunately, everything is en route. Maybe this thing will actually run before spring.

Sent my compressor housing out to powdercoat.

Also got my .84 twin scroll turbine housing. Needing to get it ceramic coated then will post pics. Hopefully my Megasquirt will be here soon. Ordered it and was told it could be a month. Who knows at this point. Planning to do concentric stuff with my wiring to the firewall and use a mil-spec plug then start tucking wires. Hoping this weekend is warm enough to get the turbo hung and the feed/drain lines made up.

Been pretty busy with extra stuff other than my car lately, this is what came of 6 or 7 hours of wiring yesterday. Started with 74 wires, plan on using about 65 of them. We got most of my coils wired up and the wiring covered up as well. I still have some things in the bay to delete/shave but I was really wanting to see how the harness loom would run first before I did anything. Excuse the valve cover paint chipping, waiting until the winter to powder coat them.

After some discussion and thoughts on what I will need this is what we ended up with. Sorted by ignition signal wires, grounds, injector low side drivers and some random wires like datalogging switching, launch control in, etc. that will stay inside the car.

Feeding the harness through the stock location. This is before we cut all the power wires for injectors and coils to length, this also includes all the other feeds/returns for all the sensors I'll be using. (Coolant tempx2, IAT, IACV, Crank Pos sensor, and one of the stock cam position sensors so I can have a TDC reset in order to run fully sequential spark and fuel.)

This is a sloppy picture but this is the finished product. Once the writing is off the coils it should really clean up nice. Just need to get those valve covers wrinkle black'd and it'll look like a whole new car.

Next up should be valve stem seals which will be a total pain in the ass (and back) to do in the car. Once I source those and order them today I'll hopefully be installing them next weekend.

goodluck on MS3. Many have tried it on the MKIV platform and end up dumping it for Pro-efi/Motec/AEM V2

Well maybe they have, and that is good for them. Most people are too lazy to do any electrical research and don't want to spend the time making what they have work. A lot of people would rather ship their car off and let someone else figure out their wiring bugs as simple as a loose or missing ground. I'd rather just do it all myself and with help from friends so I can focus my money elsewhere.
