BRB while I ready my snifter of brandy, put on a Vivaldi record, and equip my shatter-proof monocle in case this New Yorker article has any stunning revelations. zeitgeist57
Honestly, as someone that travels a lot for business, I welcome the self-driving car. I hope more and more people park their asses in the right lane to check Facebook while I navigate around them and to my destination. Let me know when the technology is adapted (and adopted) to a point where it won't be any more of a cost option than SiriusXM/Navigation is today. El Karacho1647545492
I'd be fine with self-driving cars as long as I've got the ability to opt out. Cars are how I engage in the beautiful landscape of Earth, and I want to be behind the wheel.
zeitgeist57
"I love the autonomous car idea!!! I'd buy one when they first come out!!!" "Quick question...how does the robot actuate the clutch pedal and shifter if I'm having the car drive me around?" "I'm sorry...did you say that it's automatic-only???" DENIED

DENIED Maybe they could do a speshul clutch-by-wire with mechanical backup like dem fancy aeroplanes! Yes please! Most people don't want to drive, they just want to arrive. This retard lane is just for you!
Mr. Jones
I second what Clay is laying down here. Anybody who wants one, let them have it, we are all better off. Let the rest of us enjoy the drive.

Mallard
Good article, but a long read. I've got my own opinions on the subject, but most of them were presented in that article.
