miller11386
I will be there! Not sure if I will be ready for full Jam passes though. I considered T'ing off the Line lock, but from a volume of fluid flow and proportioning standpoint, I didn't want to F with it with 4 piston fronts. Also, I bought 2 for the 4GX7 back in 2007 LOL. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/RX7launch.jpg I actually bought them form summit- there where no china options available at the time. Summit brand typically is china manufactured parts. And I cant wait to see what it does at the dyno day! I am hoping mine is ready by then, but we shall see. Lots to do from now until then! coltboostin
Summit brand typically is china manufactured parts. And I cant wait to see what it does at the dyno day! I am hoping mine is ready by then, but we shall see. Lots to do from now until then! I'll be happy to have it drive there an pop the hood We will see what the dyno list looks like. Clutch bled and adjusted, brakes bled. It was warm a few nights last week so I decided to try the full murder look. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160415_221322268.jpg I think Gloss may be better, but I will leave it for now. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160416_222911261.jpg Dusty ol' girl! http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160416_142113450_HDR.jpg Paint still looks great after a quick bath- but she does need a buff http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160416_143753326.jpg And the current status of things.. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160416_141940717_HDR.jpg The cam, super aggressive clutch, and lack of tune makes things interesting for sure. Cam surge becomes pretty violent in the drive train with an on-off switch for a clutch! But the brakes work, the trans shifts (and sounds quieter than last season, so my reshim may have helped!!) and the fans work-so we are ready for IC pipes and possibly exhaust! coltboostin
IC pipes figured out-all from various pieces of scraps. Once section is even from a old Isuzu truck that has 3 inch SS exhaust that we took from the scrap yard trip back in 2005 with a good friend that is no longer with us. Fun thing about doing it sloppy is reusing parts from old builds brings back great memories. This car needs as much good Karma as it can get http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160420_111836472_HDR.jpg I will weld this stuff up next time I have access to a TIG. Last is the exhaust-and we are ready for testing and tuning!

These have been the best in terms of finish, and reliability. Also based off the MVS platform, its compact works great in tight spaces http://www.ebay.com/itm/Compact-Mini-35-38mm-Turbocharger-Turbo-Manifold-External-V-Band-Wastegate-Red-/291620659665?hash=item43e5f221d1:g:XXwAAOSwiwVWTsFm&vxp=mtr And the tial copies http://www.ebay.com/itm/50MM-BOV50-Turbo-Universal-Billet-Aluminum-Blow-Off-Valve-Spring-Flange-Black-M-/301789706402?hash=item46441178a2:g:oSsAAOSwwpdW75EQ&vxp=mtr My no fly zone is fakes with the brand they are copying on them, and I always try to buy from an American distributor. I dont want to be a part of true "fake" market saturation.
coltboostin
To address the overboost issue, I originally was going to re-work my gate entry-but I said F it and picked up another 450 Chinagate and added it with great gate priority off the up pipe. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160511_233819255.jpg With 15psi of spring, she now holds 15psi on gate . Took it for a test rip, and YIKES, much better than I expected after the dyno! Even with the 5.3 and big cam, its not much laggier than the twins set up-and rips pretty hard for 15psi. It may be hard to compare since my daily is 4XXwhp and auto and this is the first tie she has seen full pulls this year, but she feels as stong if not stonger than last years set up. Big differnce up top as well-you can feel the Cam carry the power well. Still need to add pump and, address the old plugs, and wrap the DP in the bay, and its back to the dyno. On a side note-opening my dump picked up 180 whp on the dyno! I am sure some of this was due to increased boost, but I have to impove the regular exhaust flow. I knew my cheated angle would be a restircion, bit lord I didnt know it would be that bad! Watch your angles people! http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160506_191315995_HDR.jpg
coltboostin
Also a few people asked for an idle vid. Here it is. I am sorry but I literally know nothing about the cam. It was trash picked form a local shop

coltboostin
Thanks 60-150 roll on, no brake boosting. It seems the extra torque is making traction more difficult. Should give a good perspective on spool, transient, and "sound" characteristics of this turbo. If the off the shelf cast Pt88 unit is "quiet" I would have to say this one is not. Here is the list of things I need to do before I see the track. Flush coolant system. Current coolant looks like mud LOL. Engine must have been sitting for some time. Wire up 2 stage boost control Smooth out restriction in exhaust Add more pump. See if one 450 and one 380 can fit in stock bucket or move to cheap fuel cell and twin 380's Bump base pressure to 70psi-retune and add boost She feels very strong; this cam definitely carries the power well up top. I am excited to see what the difference is at similar boost levels compared to the 5.7 and twins

coltboostin
Sorry for the lack of updates guys, been a busy few weeks with non car stuff. Took the Fam on Summer Vaca. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/IMG_20160526_071439458_HDR.jpg And THIS has been taking all of my time! Not much time for car antics this summer. I've been very hands on with this project, and it cant be as sloppy as the can unfortunately. The goal is "zero zip ties" LOL http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/IMG_20160605_182615561_HDR.jpg What little free time I have been driving and enjoying the car even though it needs some finishing up. Take it to work quite often when its nice out. Hard for me to fix something thats not really broke. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160602_193609763_HDR.jpg Went to a charity Dyno day that I won shutting down at 5500 (730whp-chart going STRAIGHT up) because it was leaning out pretty hard. Found a clogged fuel filter. $4 at autozone, and we are good to go, but I still need more pump! Somewhere along the line, my diff unwelded itself (yes, it still runs fine, just one wheel peels!) and I know I need to fix it. So, not I have th opportunity to do some work. Short list before I can take it for the FULL JAM tune session- More pump. Min 340x2 (sourced used for $40) Wire 2 stage boost control Figure out overboost situation- spikes to 18+ Try to fit Mickey ET Pros 28x10.5 Fuel Filter Plugs (still from 2014 LOL) Address cooling. Angle radiator/Shroud/More fan Wish List Turbo Blanket? GM style coolant reservoir Fuel cell, or swirl Pot and AEM 380's Updates soon! coltboostin
Fixed a few lingering issues with the car. First was heavy boost spikes. I figured it was my sub par wastegate placement, but i decided to check the springs just to be sure. We'll yep, Im a jackass. Had 20+psi of spring in there! Whoops. spring change and I can hold 10psi to redline. Bingo! Next, while I had the car in the air working on the gates, I noticed the rear wheels could spin independently of each other. Uh-oh. Out comes the diff. Luckily, it broke the welds, and just munched them up and kept rolling! http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160613_205136390.jpg Yep-no longer welded. So i was able to just re-weld more (significantly more) using my buddies 220v Miller and save the gear set. Hooks up a TON better now LOL. Lets see how long THAT lasts! Next, I picked up a used pair of 340's for $50. One was louder than the other, but F it-lets roll! Upon removal of the hanger, I immediately found out why my car "fuel sloshed" so bad on launch and between shifts! VIDEO http://vid1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/VID_20160619_135030942.mp4 http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160619_135028701_HDR.jpg That how it was IN THE TANK. Just flopping around. Also, after measuring everything- the pumps were a good 3 inched off the bottom of the tank with no filter socks, so I am sure they were cavitating like a mofo whole flopping around in there. I must have been drunk when I built this thing!! Redid everything, mounted the pumps with socks a 1/2 in off the bottom, rewired with 12 gauge wire (previous was 18 gauge trailer wires), and we should now be good to go. After all this-I have been driving her around well on pump gas. This week also I was asked to bring the car down for a magazine shoot at the shop that painted the car. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160622_170501768_HDR.jpg http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160622_162559589_HDR.jpg Old girl shines up nice! Last things before they next dyno session is a plug change )still on last years plugs) wire in my 2 stage boost controller, and address cooling. Temp still creeps too 210 deg. I miss the AL block!! coltboostin
Some great updates. Cooling. She has been running warm since day one. Always looking for the shortest path to success, I simply tilted the radiator maybe 10 degrees and added a flap at the bottom. Holy hell what a difference! I went from cursing at 215+ with the Fans ON, to 160 deg with the fans OFF. The car won’t go over 180 deg even after back to back highway pulls. Yes!!!!! Dont mind the packing tape-I wanted to make sure it was shrouded and had nothing else available LOL. This is temporary. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160624_100322871_HDR.jpg Fuel So my twin used $40 pumps lasted a day LOL. Used Quantum died on the way to work. Pulled over, blocked it off-and made it back and home on the AEM 340. Just ponied up the $90 for a new 450 Wally and found a way to get it in there. WOW. Was able to peg 120 psi with ease- so I increased base pressure to 65psi. Went from 105% IDC, to 77% IDC at 22psi. Back to the dyno http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160625_010231647.jpg With the new found fuel, we hit the dyno to turn it up a bit. Ended up with 830whp with a safe tune at 22psi and out of wastegate! Thats my fault-what did I expect with the 10psi springs I recently installed. I will be redoing the gate set up and be back later this year looking for more boost. She is a rocket though at this level-video s coming soon. Sorry for the short Vid-only one I got on my phone! This was a pull to 6400. Redline is now 7200. I have driven the car so much not that cords are showing on my rear tires. I guess it’s time to try and fit these 28' MT Pros. Daddy needs traction! coltboostin
Latest update. F in' traction! I have had a set of Mickey ET Pro's I picked up used for cheap a while ago, but the forum says they won’t fit, and just holding them in the well...I didn’t see how it was possible. I had them sold, but decided to toss them on a stock RX-7 Vert wheel (real BBS Meshie) just to see. Well WTF........ http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160702_184452343.jpg I guess you can believe everything your read on the net! This is with the same small spacer I was running. I had to jack up the suspension for it, but I have a cunt hair everywhere. I chalked the fender and control arms and took it for a rip to see if it rubbed. Just barley kisses the control arm (on heavy braking only), and the plastic ground effects on the outside. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160707_155223641_HDR.jpg So I decided to be safe (and maybe give me room for a 295) I would notch the inner control arm. Now I have at least 1.5 inch on the inside. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160715_202652773.jpg Hol-ee-fuk- what a difference a tire makes. I think I am getting closer to my original goal of driving to the track, running a 9, and driving home! Here is some "traction testing" against a mid 9's @ 155 modded liter bike. I am on pump gas boost.

coltboostin
Major updates.....lets start at the top. First, the on3 turbo unfortunately locked up. Went out for some runs with local big HP cars and the car made NO boost (after being fine on the drive there). I thought an IC pipe blew off. Get back to the spot, all the pipes are on and tight. Huh....check the trubo-100% locked up! Fak. I cant recall ever seeing a turbo lock up like this that was getting good oil. Oil pressure was fine- I drove 20 miles home full NA-even ran someone NA to be a dick . Still have to do some trouble shooting to see what happened-but she gon' http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160717_240325539.jpg But as luck would have it-I found an "unknown" turbo on C list. Guy thought it was Ebay, after asking fro some pics and a video of it spinning, I know it was legit. I wont post what I paid for it so no one sends me anthrax LOL, but here is whats going on the car, a REAL Garrett GT4780R. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160717_243308512.jpg Not after pulling the crossover off-I am SHOCKED the car worked at all!! both Wastegates had MAJOR issues. Lets start here- the Feed for gate 1 http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160717_211955346.jpg When I boost leak checked gate 2, air came out of the top hole (WTF) and the bottom around the valve on the outside of the gate. Again...WTF? http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160717_221503958.jpg There is supposed to be set screws in there to attach the diaphragm tot he piston. Not only will it not work without these, but it now has a path for air to escape-going to the upper chamber of the gate and out. This is how it came out of the box. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160717_212930635.jpg All screws where loose, and only was literally just laying there. This allowed air to also escape out of the bottom of the gate. So, this side not only didn’t work, was a massive boost leak, but likely was cracked opened to some extent at all times. So gate 2 was sealed up but worked like crap. It was super sticky- would hold open and slowly close even with no pressure on it. I took it all apart and lubed the shaft, works much better now. http://i1003.photobucket.com/albums/af154/coltboostin/LsxRx7/IMG_20160717_224227712.jpg I am always happy to find and fix issues that will improve the car, but a bit down that I feel I may not have given On3's new Billet 88mm a true test. I could not get more than 22-23psi, out of it, and not I know it was 100% not the turbo’s fault. The turbo did great for having a massive, and I mean ridiculous boost leak, and non functioning leaking wastegates. Lets see how the car behaves with WORKING gates, and a smaller “big name” turbo. .
