DKilbourne
So, what was supposed to be a day off to get things done turned into a fun time. I was on my way to drop my kids off and was slowing down to turn on the street that our sitter is on when I got rear ended. She hit ice, which I did too but was still able to slow down, and popped me at 35+. Kids didn't make a peep. My daughter asked what happened and seemed fine. Safety seats do work! Lady that hit me was freaking out since she saw a car seat. Hysterical when she got out. I had to calm her down and let her sit in my car to stay warm. I guess I'm not a complete asshole.....Anyway, her car is done and mine most likely is too. Pics of mine don't look too bad, but the trunk pan and spare tire well are pushed atleast 6 inches and the back door and trunk lid gaps are much closer.....here are the pics http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx296/DKilbourne_2010/20131224_083552_zps148766e5.jpeg http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx296/DKilbourne_2010/20131224_083559_zpsb214bb64.jpeg http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx296/DKilbourne_2010/20131224_083523_zpsb3550123.jpeg http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx296/DKilbourne_2010/20131224_083515_zpsc7650bc1.jpeg http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/xx296/DKilbourne_2010/20131224_083531_zps290862e5.jpeg

PRD2BDF
That sucks, glad everyone is okay. It is probably done for. My Saab was rearended at 50 mph. Ended up flattening the floor pan and a crinkle in the D-pillar.

Fubar231
Glad everyone is ok! From the front the car looked like a ford taurus or something lol, couldnt tell it was a nissan maxima until i kept scrolling down and saw the rear end! Talk about a big change since you were hit. So she rear ended you, what did the front of your car hit? Another car?

Dharris89
The other driver's insurance should also pay for new car seats. Anytime a seat is in an accident, they recommend it be replaced due to the plastics and restraints being compromised. Good luck.

Dharris89
Yes I meant child safety seats. Although from what I have heard most parents have to buy new ones and wait for the insurance company to reimburse. It's safer than waiting and taking the chance of another accident. Mallard
Buy a saab. They're one of the safest cars. Lolz Buy a 4th Gen F-Body, they were rated five stars on crash ratings. Dave, I didn't know you had kids. Damn, we're getting old. "5 star" when the F-body was built is nowhere near a 5 star today. It's probably equivalent to a 2 or 3 star. OP, as others and the insurance company have said, you must replace your child seats after any accident. Also, you should replace them after a few years (I think it's 5, but don't quote me) because plastic gets more brittle with age.
MrMeanGreen
2 or 3 star, huh?
