OUCH!

 

1993 ZR-1 Spyder on loan from General Motors

2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil” on loan from General Motors

 

The other six vehicles were owned by the National Corvette Museum including:

 

1962 Black Corvette

1984 PPG Pace Car

1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette

1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette

2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette

2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette

The first car they removed was the sole 1983 corvette.

 

Hope they can save this one, it is literally irreplaceable. I heard a story about this car, it shouldn't still be around anyways. But thanks to one of the people commissioned to destroy the run of cars, they couldn't see destroying all of them.

Well on the bright side nobody was there to get hurt.

 

Still amazing to me the odds of all the places for a sink hole, it swallows the only 1983 Corvette. :confused:

 

I don't think the 83 went into the hole. I think the story meant that they removed the 83 from the dome so it wouldn't go in if the hole widened. The 83 wasn't on the list of 8 that went in.

I find it interesting that it happened to the cars in the middle of dome.

 

I'm not, if you consider all the footing and extra concrete poored around the perimeter to support the dome. Now that's not to say the dome isn't unstable but it wouldn't be the first to go.
