Exodus
I wonder if the car will ever be built. They have several prototypes and are looking to go into production next year. What do you think of the Elio? http://www.eliomotors.com/
morabu
i'd probably buy one for the wife's daily commute. after the 1st year or so. that way most of the kinks are ironed out.
Not Brian
hipster fagget shit stopping up traffic for miles It only costs $6,800. That’s about what you would pay for an outboard motor to power a rowboat. OH WOW THANK YOU I DIDN'T KNOW HOW MUCH $6,800 WAS WORTH

Draco-REX
Keep in mind that this is NOT a car. It is a motorcycle as far as the DOT is concerned, so it does not have to conform to the same safety regs as a car.
Exodus
I wonder what will happen if you blow out your back tire.
jjjxlr8
Keep in mind that this is NOT a car. It is a motorcycle as far as the DOT is concerned, so it does not have to conform to the same safety regs as a car. The company is trying to get around some of the details associated with being classified as a motorcycle. I've heard that they will not require a motorcycle endorsement on your license and that the helmet laws will not apply. We'll see...
Exodus
I know some state laws have been changed for this classification of vehicle. But we shall see.

zeitgeist57
Did you preorder one? Nope. While I'm enthusiastic about brands like this and Tesla, unfortunately I think Elio Motors has a 1 in 3 chance of actually making it to market. Production is delayed until 2015...B'CUZ OF COURSE IT IS.

Turbs3000
Can you order it without a .9L 55hp engine and swap it for an ecoboost 1L 125hp with the same (or better) mpg. Also: "Retail Centers will be stand-alone sales locations run by Elio-trained employees, so you’ll never find yourself saying, “Hey, weren’t you flipping burgers at Hamburger Heaven last week?" -- Classy

At least Elon Musk is creating a road map of amiable states/markets for other small-volume manufacturers that want to sell cars out of retail shops... zeitgeist57
It's not for sure...I'm just sayin' it's likely they'll die UNLESS they get the ATVM loan... Time will tell. I tip my hat to those who venture down this path. Seems like you need PayPal-founder money to make stuff happen in the world today...
