Doc1647545523 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Share Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) CR guys finally talked me into trying autocross today at Columbus Motor Speedway. The United Ford Owners (UFO) group did a really great job of putting on a relaxed, fun, well-organized event. Fifteen bucks, they provide the track workers, free cold beverages, plus trophies. Everyone got 5-6 runs. The track was straightforward and easy to learn. I don't see how it could get easier to learn autocross. As it ended up, CR members took all but one or two of the dozen or so trophies and provided the most entertaining runs, including a WOT 360-degree spin-in-the-dust recovery maneuver. Many thanks to all the CR members who were helpful today and especially to Scott Cordell who coached me through the whole process and rode shotgun on my runs. Events are a lot more fun when you do them with a big group of friends. My only instructions to him were, "Get plenty of my car." Sorry he didn't take shots of many cars, but you're right, your car was so fast it would have taken a special camera to capture the image. Sure, it would've been nice to go faster, but the track was very technical and was a blast to run. Aaron is always a trophy winner, but they put him in the slow group. I know my 4,000 lb boat won't keep up with the Jonezilla mobile, but it still looks like fun. I do have upgraded suspension, and brakes in the near future. I know my 4,000 lb boat won't keep up with the Jonezilla mobile, but it still looks like fun. I do have upgraded suspension, and brakes in the near future. You'll be fine. Jonezilla is a huge 4000lb car itself who just barely fit through some of the cones honestly. It's about fun and hanging out with friends. zeitgeist57 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Share Posted May 26, 2014 Guys, FWIW it was my first time and the track is a blast.The guys at UFO that put it on couldn't have been nicer to us. They did all of the field work and all we did is jabber in the bleachers and the pit area, and drive.
