So when I type it out it's really not all that bad. If you forget the rims and tires, suspension, turbo inlet pipe and diverter valve, it really has been low cost.

 

So things I have had to replace so far

Brake pads and rotors, rear

Coolant flange

CTS

Heater hose supply line

Maf

Spark plugs

Coil packs

Air filter

Turbo inlet pipe

DV

Valve cover gasket

Coolant flush and fill

Passenger front and rear window regulators and motor

Avus 17" wheels and 225/45/17 extreme contact tires

RS style grill

Lower door mouldings passenger front and rear doors.

I don't think those can, I'm already top end here in town LOL

 

I flipped a FJ80 Landcruiser early January. Then I bought my Land Rover with that profit. I sold the Land Rover and picked up this Audi. I'm still up a few thousand dollars since the original LC purchase.

Well it was time to man up and just work on it. I have 1800 Sqft of laminate floor in my garage rendering useless so I have to stack it in back so I could get my car in.

 

Got it in and start on it. I'm pretty sure the water pump went out. The car was circulating coolant after fixing the flange and hose. So just going to do a timing belt and water pump job. Also put my inlet pipe and diverted valve in while in had the front of the car off.

That's all I get to today as I need a breaker bar, 5&6 mm hex sockets as well as a 12 point 19mm socket.

 

Plan is to do timing belt, water pump, valve cover gasket( clean valve cover as well as wrinkle black the cover and intake manifold). Then get it all back together and hopefully it will be a good running car.

So water pump was shot. It wasn't the original though neither was the timing belt but regardless they are out and new stuff going on.

 

Got valve cover off. Does this look sludgy?

Also got the valve cover cleaned and sprayed in wrinkle black. Here it is after shooting it.

Now I have to wait til ECS tuning sends me the timing belt kit which includes everything I need to get this bitch back together.

Welp got everything I could get done, done. Now waiting for parts to arrive.

 

Since the front end is off now would be s perfect time for a front mount intercooler. Should I get one or over kill for stock turbo and giac stage 1 tune?

 

Should I get silicone intercooler hoses to replace my old factory ones if I stay with the side mount?

If you are really concerned about sludge you can do two things: 1) clean the oil pan so the pickup doesn't clog, and 2) install an oil pressure gauge and take readings to make sure they 30 psi at 180 degrees or higher and between 60 and 70 cold psi.

 

 

Are you going to keep the car or still going to flip? If keeping maybe a front mount, if a flip - leave it stock as nobody is going to pay you any real value for a hotted up audi with 140K+ on the clock as compared to a stock one with the same mileage. Also, and this is just personal, but whenever I see a front mount intercooler I just assume the 18year old that owns the car ragged it within an inch of it's life. Anything non-stock you do to the car you want to be able to take off and sell separate to maximize value - front mount doesn't seem that easy to remove.

I'm going to be keeping this for awhile now after all the Service I'm doing to it. It doesn't make financial sense to sell it right away. I have wanted project car for awhile to tinker with and mod but I didn't expect this to be it.

 

Plan is get it running then I have a giac ecu on the line to put in. I figured since everything was apart a front mount would be easy to install now. I'll go ko4 or gtrs later down the road.

Meh. After all your repairs you're still in it for $1500 bucks. Assuming high miles that's about all its worth.

 

Should be fun either way. Love mine. First car i plan to drive into the ground.

 

i love my b6 its a great daily. I really do miss my B5 1.8t the gold one. I want to put a b6 interior into that = perfect daily.
