Mustang Question...

So I have found a new 2014 Mustang Convertable. Willing to sell for $36k, sticker is $46k, never been titled, GT Premium. My only hatred is that it's an auto. Are the autos bad in these cars? I'm 40 and well, not rowing through a 6 speed kinda sounds ok at this point.

Completely different car but FWIW, the 6spd auto in my Fusion Sport is very nice in terms of how it shifts and is geared. Quiet and smooooth when I want it to be. With it's 3.5l it pulls very strong and shifts with authority on the highway allow for more than enough passing power. Even my turd with a V6 pulls past 100mph to the limiter with ease and bounces off that like a tennis ball. I can only imagine in the 5.0 it would be a lot of fun.

I do use the manumatic mode a bit and it works. Not sure if it's on the console like mine or if the Mustangs have paddles, but am so used to it on the console now that it will be hard to switch. I use it mainly to hold gears. It shifts slower than I'd like but then it's just a manumatic way of shifting not a fancy system of any type. It will allow you to hit redline or bounce the limiter if you're not watching.

Just beware that my car and several of the 6spd autos that we've had in our co. car fleet from Fusions to Edge's have had problems between 40-60k miles. Mine had an $1,900 repair at 60k due to a major leak and other crap. Others have begun to slip and needed simliar dollar repairs. Just my exposure to them.

Thanks man, sold the STI this morning, negotiated more $$ off the Mustang, and they were fair on my trade. I am right exactly where I wanted to be for finance. I spend more on Directv per month than my car payment. Only hitch is Ford has the car held for the Air Bag recall, so 2-4 weeks for delivery until it gets it's new airbag. For now I am driving a loaded 2014 Fuckus. LOL

Snowflake I most likely will not go back there after I get to take it home.

I've purchased two new trucks with them in the past couple years. They voided my warranty on a 2015 F250 because I had a remote starter installed somewhere else.

I took my truck in to get the horn fixed since it stopped working and as soon as they saw I had the remote start they shut it down and told me to come pick it up and that because someone beside ford cut into the wire harness my warranty was no longer good.

I looked right at the guy with my wife standing next to me and asked him if something happens to my transmission or engine I'm not covered under warranty. Meh threw his hands in the air and said "I don't kill the consumer"

Fuck them!

LOL! Thanks, that sounds horrible. When they were haggling they kept bringing up the $5 oil changes, as money I need to pay on the front end, to which I responded "doesn't that negate the $5 then? LOL It's a very far drive for me to go down there, I'll most likely go to Krieger or Germain, and change my own oil.

I feel as if I got a fair deal on both trucks. The service after is my problem.

Enjoy the car! I actually walked over and took a look at it when I was there. Fucker is nice! Fords stepped up the game big time recently with all their cars.

  • 2 months later...

Got a call from Dick Masheter this morning. Airbags will not be made until 1st quarter of 2016. So Ford purchased my car back at sticker ($46,000, I only paid $34,000), and I picked out a 2015 which I should drive home on Tuesday. So for the same price I will be in this:

2015 Mustang GT Premium Convertible Manual!

Back in a 3 pedal car!

This has everything I wanted and more. Paid off to wait!
