Patterson
As with any VAG product, proper maintenance will net you many years of happiness.
Aaron
They are prone to carbon build up, actually one of the worst offenders. It will trip a CEL and require carbon cleaning, but other than that, pretty reliable engine.
Lauren
What's the procedure for carbon cleaning? Is it a dealer thing or DIY at home thing?
Zx2guy19
What's the procedure for carbon cleaning? Is it a dealer thing or DIY at home thing? I've done it- just put a house in the valve cover, turned it on full blast and started the car. Flushes the carbon right out.

Grudes
What's the procedure for carbon cleaning? Is it a dealer thing or DIY at home thing? You can do it at home. Youll need to find a vacuum line to hook it up too, just make sure it goes directly to the intake manifold and doesn't split off. Also make sure you have a way to control the flow so that you dont hydro-lock your engine. If your uncomfortable doing it then defintley have a dealer do it, its not worth bending a rod
