Slimpsy1647545505
Hey all. . . I'm buying a vehicle in west virginia. . I have never bought an out of state vehicle before. I'm wondering what the process is. I want to make sure I get everything I need over there and not miss any steps. The person tells me they don't have to notarize the title there, just sign it over to me? So then do I just take that signed title with seller name/signature and my name/signature to our title office for an out of state inspection? It just seems all very easy. Am I missing some paperwork here? Thanks!
zeitgeist57
Will, you'll need a deputy inspect the vehicle and provide an Out-Of-State authorization to transfer the title to Ohio when you get it registered. A car dealership can also help you out if you know anyone...

Am I missing some paperwork here? I took all my paperwork to the BMV here in Columbus and they took care of everything. Took a couple weeks for my title to arrive. They charged me like $19 to apply for it but saved me from running around doing it so I didn't care. They did the inspection too.
Slimpsy1647545505
Cool, so then it will be a one stop thing. Do I just need title?
TTQ B4U
Cool, so then it will be a one stop thing. Do I just need title? I just brought the entire packet of papers from when I bought the car. They needed to verify sales tax paid, etc. Call me silly but I just brought one folder, cash and a bottle of water and Angry Birds for when I was in line. Geeto67
When I moved here from NY, I went to the BMV by the kart place (Alum creek drive?). They have a title and a registration office in the same complex. I had to go back and forth between the two offices but they were able to inspect, title, and register my vehicles in about an hour. Make sure you get a bill of sale if the value is under book value. otherwise they will try to get you to pay tax on the book value which may be more than what you actually paid. Green Bastard
I was looking at getting a bike from out of state recently, when I called the bmv they said they wanted a notorized bill of sale as the title from that state didn't need notorized.
