indy82z
My son has a 2007 Mustang V6 that he wants to add dual exhaust to. He sent me a link for a catback for like $600, but seem stupid expensive. Anyone on here do custom exhaust work? Thanks Tom
Stretch
http://www.americanmuscle.com/v6-dualexhaust-convokits.html Also, I can hook you up with a 6% discount code if interested.
indy82z
That is the system he sent me. Just thought maybe someone could fab it cheaper. If not, definitely interested in that code. He orders a ton of stuff from that site. Thanks!! Tom
99StockGT
Unfortunately most truly custom exhaust work will get you up to the same kind of pipe when you look into labor, stainless pipes, mufflers, all the trimmings. For the price of "exhaust kits" these days, it's typically a much simpler smoother and cheaper way to go. Unless you want to try and talk someone like Mad Hatter into doing it.. iwashmycar
Yeah that is a lot of pipe, couple mufflers, and nice tips....adds up.

Aaron
Tell him to save his money, or put it towards suspension/brakes/tires/V8.
Littleguy
Some of the cheaper options I would consider: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2010-Mustang-V6-SLP-PowerFlo-Axle-Back-Exhaust-3-5-Polished-Tip-/171709046891?fits=Year%3A2007%7CMake%3AFord%7CModel%3AMustang%7CSubmodel%3ABase%7CEngine+-+Liter_Display%3A4.0L&hash=item27faa8206b&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flowmaster-17421-05-09-Ford-Mustang-V6-2-5-Axle-Back-Exhaust-System-Moderate-/390519353108?fits=Year%3A2007%7CMake%3AFord%7CModel%3AMustang%7CSubmodel%3ABase%7CEngine+-+Liter_Display%3A4.0L&hash=item5aecc46f14&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Borla-S-Type-Axle-Back-Exhaust-for-2005-2009-Mustang-GT-4-6L-11750-/261734926277?fits=Year%3A2007%7CMake%3AFord%7CModel%3AMustang%7CSubmodel%3ABase%7CEngine+-+Liter_Display%3A4.0L&hash=item3cf09e07c5&vxp=mtr
indy82z
Tell him to save his money, or put it towards suspension/brakes/tires/V8. I have tried to tell him that but it is his first car and he love this car. I told him to just drive it and save money and buy a V8 car instead but he wont have any of it.. What suspension and brake mods are recommended? I am absolutely not a Mustang guy so I can not help him out at all..
Aaron
We've all been there! BMR makes springs, so does eibach, and a host of others. Koni or bilstein for shocks, etc. If he isn't into performance driving, and just wants an exhaust, go for it!
Mitch
I have the stock axle back exhaust from my old 2013 Mustang GT, if he wants them he can have them for free. No idea if you could make use of them in any way, but free fits in most budgets. Just offering.

Mitch
That's really nice Eli and Adam, but if you think about it, when was the last time you saw a GT with stock exhaust? They have to be a dime a dozen. He's doing me the favor getting it out of my attic.
99StockGT
Thing going in his favor is historically the GTs and the V6s shared almost everything so the exhaust shouldn't be all that tough to fit. A little finagling and you'll have a GTV6 rumble! Lowering springs are always excellent for the looks department, changes this attitude of the car and aren't TERRIBLY expensive. Brake upgrades will cost some $$$, true handling mods I would stay away from as they change those cars considerably and you may be throwing good money after something that will ruin your enjoyment of the car. I did a full suspension on my Mustang over last winter and with how tight I made it the damn thing felt like it was on rails but was not nearly as fun to drive. Just my .
