carl1647545492
I was at a cookout and had a glass of Bowmore given to me and by the second glass I was pretty hooked on the peaty taste. Now I,m trying to track some down and would like to know if any one knows where to get some or knows of a similar tasting whiskey that can be bought locally? Smokey
I've had a bottle or 2 in my day. Haha. There's an Ohio liquor agency. You can call them and they can tell you if any stores sell Bowmore and where to get it. Otherwise any Islay whiskey is going to have a similar peat flavor just more or less of it. Something like Laphroig has so damn much it's like someone added liquid smoke to it.
Shmaa
There are many Islay whisky's and they all typically have a strong peaty flavor. I have never had Bowmore, but some popular options that are typically available locally are Lagavulin 16 and Laphroiag. Talisker will also have a similar flavor, but it is from a separate island. http://whiskey.underthelabel.com/d/c/Scotch/Islay I not sure of the local shoppes, but I typically go to The Party Source directly on across the river from Cincy in KY. They have a huge selection. EDIT: https://www.thepartysource.com/express/results.php?i=bowmore
Patrick
This is super helpful: https://www.comapps.ohio.gov/liqr/liqr_apps/PermitLookup/AgencyBrand.aspx
1Quik7
Laphroiag and if I remember Oban were rather smoky and peaty. Head over to Chateau(used to be Corner's) on Polaris down by BW3s. They used to have a decent selection of single malts.

I can drink that until I cant see.
El Karacho1647545492
My uncle is a huge single malt fan and Bowmore is his favorite brand. He got my dad a bottle of 12 year which I promptly stole (dad's not a scotch fan) and enjoyed thoroughly with friends. When I was working at the liquor store in Boston we had a scotch specialist on staff, his favorite was Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask for regular drinking and Glenmorangie 18 for special occasions. zeitgeist57
Staring at that bottle makes me thirsty... ...and I'm not a whiskey/bourbon fan.
carl1647545492
Thanks for the suggestions I will check them out. Staring at that bottle makes me thirsty... ...and I'm not a whiskey/bourbon fan. Yep. Well my host was a 80 year old military man and a good single malt was the only thing he was drinking so its what I had too...we talked war stories for about a hour or so and when I left he gave me a bottle to take home
RC K9
Laphroig is too much for me. I Like the Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, MacAllen, and on the irish side, Bushmills 10yr. I need more exposure o the irish stuff though.
Bark
If you like the smokey peat taste I'd suggest Ardbeg. I got turned on to this last week and love it. I was typically a blend type of guy but the bar tender was very knowledgeable on his scotch whisky's and lined up a bunch for me to try. I'll have to try Bowmore out if I see it.
