Twin turbo vs single turbo with Nitrous

Me and a co-worker were talking about twin turbo cars. Hes said that a single turbo with nos will make the same power quicker, and more reliably than twin turbo. My thinking was that a sequential twin turbo setup would be better for off the line and then the big turbo would kick in for top end.

So for a 1/4 mile setup using an SRT4 Neon as a starting point. Fully built motor, with sequential turbos, or single turbo with nos?

Pros and cons of each?

This is also kind of a "dream build" for me. My goal is after we get a house with a garage, is to buy a cheap one. I wouldn't be worried about condition as I would be building it from the ground up. Just a project car that I can go have fun at the track with.

So your dream car is a Neon? Two turbos in any configuration on a 4 cylinder DSM is just stupid, good luck getting someone crazy enough to fab that up. Why don't you just use the stock turbo to feed a supercharger?

Dude you crack me up, I don't where you come up with this shit, do you just wake up and decide "I wanna talk about building my dream SRT4"? Did you fall asleep watching the Fast and Furious last night, because if this is what it does to you I suggest watching some porn after the movie to clear you head at bedtime.

I've seen the movies enough times that I have them pretty much memorized. There aren't many of these at the drag strip. But this post was really about which is better not me liking a car that no one else likes. I don't like Porsche or Ferrari but don't bash others for liking them.

While your right, its your choice, you have to deal with it.

Dsm's arent exactly known for being reliable anyway, but if you start doing goofy shit like that, its really going to spend more time in the garage than on the track anyway.

I don't care much about ever owning a Ferrari or a Porsche either, the cars in my sig are what I lusted after in high school, now I just need a Viper and I'll have all the cars I wanted when I was 16.

I also have the movies memorized I just think you're funny. Maybe you should try one power adder for a while and see how much work it is maintaining that before you think about doing something that few people or even no one has done. If you build an SRT4 with a nice upgraded single turbo that should easily make it an 11 second capable car or faster, and you'll learn really quick how much other stuff goes into a car like that.

Buster you are better than some since you can take jokes and the shit people talk.

A lot of the people who say shit to you cant

Oh hi Grant, still building that dream Supra? Wanna be friends?

PS you take the wrong things too seriously, and hold on to things too long. I'm sure the same could be said about me, so make some post about how dumb I am buddy.

I'm actually going to give a serious response this time around Buster. Don't buy a SRT4. Go with either a 1st gen Neon, Shadow, Omni, Horizon, etc instead. Everything can be swapped over for a fraction of the price and the majority of SRT4 Neon's now are clapped out pos.

Sequential twin turbo makes no sense. You want two different size turbos to build boost at different rates. Twins would be only for space constraints where you can't fit a single or to cut down manifold size.

Mine was reliable as hell, made 1,000 passes (just at the track) before it started to need some love :D

I would not recommend a neon for other then bolt ons.
