zeitgeist57
http://thegarage.jalopnik.com/this-insane-porsche-928-will-make-purists-crap-their-kh-1757871189 Holy sh**...there's so much win in this build it's amazing. I absolutely love how the 928 looks with a flat paint job....hadn't seen it before. It's builds like this - that add amazing new life to tired old cars in a truly unique way - that really speak to me as a wanna-be hot-rodder living in 2016.
Aaron
I'd have spent less on a CTS V with supercharger.
zeitgeist57
I'd have spent less on a CTS V with supercharger. Not with the cost of 928's in the 4-figure range. THIS WOULD'VE BEEN CHEAPER BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!1!!11 Be Clay: Push career to the top, push used-car value to the bottom dollar.
RyM3rC
clay vs aaron, go? That's an interesting build for sure. The 928 was an outstanding machine, I still cannot believe you can buy them so cheaply nowadays.
Rally Pat
Pretty neat! We had a 924S when I was younger, and one of my dream "to-do" projects is a 944 V8, be it LS or whatever.
zeitgeist57
I can't believe the dichotomy: later-model 928S or 928 GTS approaches $75k....pretty much the SAME body/chassis in a 10-year-older configuration (with understandably more wear)can be had for less than 1/10th of that price. http://www.renegadehybrids.com/928/928.html

You can buy for nothing because the possibility of an expensive problem drops the values into used corolla territory.
turbospec29
My step dad is in the middle of a 944 ls swap right now. I'll post some pics/video once it's complete.
Geeto67
I can't believe the dichotomy: later-model 928S or 928 GTS approaches $75k....pretty much the SAME body/chassis in a 10-year-older configuration (with understandably more wear)can be had for less than 1/10th of that price. http://www.renegadehybrids.com/928/928.html well to be fair....it isn't like the FR layout 1980's Porsches were paragons of reliability. 1989-1991 944s sell for 5 times what 1982-1988 944s sell for (considering you can get a 944 for $1500 that still isn't much) and 968s are still touching $20K. nothing about a Porsche is cheap to maintain which dictates the price - the older more problem prone cars are cheap, the newer and more advanced cars are not. Plus as much as my nostalgic ass loves a Porsche styled in the 80's they do look dated comparatively speaking. I like this home built p-car hot rod. I hate the article in that it manages to almost provide no real technical details. this is the problem with modern internet journalism, anybody thinks they can do it. zeitgeist57
I think Tavarish got the story sans details from the 20-something builder, and ran with the article idea.
Forrest Gump 9
I like to do something like that to a Jag.
C-Mart
Obviously computer controlled motors are more efficient/controllable, but damn does that look clean in there.
Geeto67
I like to do something like that to a Jag. Jag's way easier - th400 trans and fully independent rear.
Wease
Be Clay: Push career to the top, push used-car value to the bottom dollar. Shit, this is me too. I don't spend shit on cars anymore, meanwhile I'm buying up as much as I can in the stock market while everyone's freaking out and selling... o0n8
I like the idea behind the 928 and the article, execution of the article is questionable at best. Not my favorite paint job.
