Radio Flyer1647545514 Posted June 5, 2016 Report Share Posted June 5, 2016 I'm looking at picking up some LED light bars and am seeing prices all over the place. I'm looking for one light for up front, grill mounted or a big 52" for the top for when I'm coming out of the woods at night. I'm also looking for some lights for the rear to make backing in easier once I get my cap with all the tinted windows. Where does the bottom dollar start with these things? I've seen them from 50 to 1,000 plus. I'm not looking to buy a piece of junk. I'm sure some of the less expensive ones hold up fine on normal roads but I'll be spending a lot of time on light off road trails. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rocky31186 Posted June 5, 2016 Report Share Posted June 5, 2016 The eBay ones work good. I installed a ton of led lights on our OPS trucks at work. They light up everything. Biggest thing I hate about the roof bar is you need to drill and put a nutsert in to bolt them on and you also get light glare on your hood. I personally would run a 32" on the front bumper. XChris1632X Posted June 6, 2016 Report Share Posted June 6, 2016 As much as I hate to recommend them based on the price, nothing compares to the rigid industry lights. Look at comparison vids. I wouldn't recommend them for everyone but for a off road guy that will actually use to them, they are worth it. The bulbs aren't any different but the reflectors are patented and none other are like them. If you aren't interested based on price and want something cheaper, get the totrons. They do have an entry level light so I'm curious how that compares to some other companies. The reverse lights are reasonably priced though so I'll take a good look at those as well. iwashmycar Posted June 6, 2016 Report Share Posted June 6, 2016 I bought one of the super cheapies. It does get condensation. I drilled holes in each end tapped some 1/4-20 bolts so it can air out. For the price, if I am going to take it apart....im going to pitch it and buy another one. Still works flawlessly. A roof mounted bar is BRIGHT...as in, at night you can "see the air"...the haze and humidity. Kind of annoying really. Still awesome in the middle of nowhere. Ive had a hood blackout decal on since before the bar so I cannot comment on hood glare. They are also noisy. I killed a lot of it with door edge molding on two of the fins, but that is just another thing to consider. I put two '2x3 led' cubes behind the grill. I know I'll be going through some creeks and pretty rough roads. I don't want something to break and be SOL. I've read rigid has a great CS department. The company I posted (from what I've heard) is pretty easy to deal with if you have any issues and they honor their lifetime warranty no questions asked. Adam Posted June 6, 2016 Report Share Posted June 6, 2016 Have a 40" bar on my roof rack. Got it from bad apple fabrication online. I am sure it was a chinese brand, but for $300 it has worked flawlessly. I know everyone says Rigid is better but I can not see how it is $700 dollars better. Mine takes a beating from limbs and trees all day and nothing has stopped working. Got a smaller one that used to be on the back but is now on the front of my DD. They do get some condensation in them but they always turn on and work great. If I remember correctly he just advised to make sure you got CREE lights. My buddy got some to put on his jeep from Amazon, they were cheaper than mine and work just as good. I need to get some LED cubes for rock lights and when I do I'll probably just get on Amazon and read the reviews and find something cheap and reliable. Usually have to use some silicone adhesive since the stuff that comes on them sucks...but otherwise they seem to give a nice even lighting.
