This group you're referring to. Are they on govt assistance? That will answer your question. The new voting system would include college students who haven't entered the workforce, retirees, and stay at home moms (but not stay at home dads--lulz), and selected other groups. If it sounds like a difficult system to set up, I agree. Remember, we've landed men on the moon, it's doable. Think about the first man to land on the moon and realize his vote is equal to the crackwhore who steals your phone to buy drugs.

Yes, or did you not think that Federal school Financial Aid, Medicare/ Medicaid, social Security, and the VA is not government "assistance". There are people that actually pay taxes and receive government assistance programs because they care for someone else who isn't able to care for themselves. And What do you do about those cheats that are working and paying taxes and still get government assistance in some form anyway?

One could write a book on how bad an idea this is, particularly how politically it comes close to governments of regency, esp the rule of Louis XVIi in France (you know, the last king before the French Revolution). However I'll just say this:

You can't draw any voting rights in America along economic lines without it having the effect of disproportionately disadvantaging racial minorities. You think slavery is institutionalized now, think about how much more it will feel like when they don't have representation on the government. Full stop this will suppress those groups, not force them to "work harder" but actually kill off a majority of the opportunities they once had.

What the problem you are trying to solve by this? So people don't vote for social programs and you save money? Is it worth the moral cost?

And yes, it supposed to be that Buzz Aldrin's or Neil Armstrong's vote is equal to yours, mine, or even drug addicted prostitutes. That's how this government is supposed to work.

"Why is my percentage greater at higher earnings when a flat percentage across the board would still be more from me because I make more?"

That's the question that keeps me up at night.

I think you are missing my point in general. Let me remind you:

"My voting choice isn't complicated, Trump"

Where do you get this idea that you are a "bad guy" for wanting money? nobody is saying that. At all.

It's when you start to complain that you have to pay a share into society so that the money can be used to build roads and infrastructure, pay for the defense force, and pay for social programs like disability and unemployment that things start to get a little more critical. You are a member of society, you can't escape that, and you have to pay into that share. If you make more money you have to pay more into society - that's just the economic cost of this opportunities this society has provided to you. Don't like it? there are plenty of other countries and societies to choose from, I am sure you can find one you like better.

I don't know why you think you are under attack for this? If you are criticized for anything it is not taking the time to understand the nature of poverty and it's interference with the rights of other racial groups in this country and the interaction of social programs in easing that situation. Thinking everybody has the same opportunity as you is a fiction, there are some people in this country that society has disadvantaged from the day they are born and it's complex as to how it happens and there is no simple solution for it. Choosing to ignore it and then say "the poor are lazy" and acting like there is no such thing as institutional racism is going to draw critics, because again inaction is still action.

the problem today is there's too many stupid ass people who have zero clue on issues that get to cast a vote. watch any of the late night shows that go walking the streets and LOL as countless clueless voters chime in. people who have ZERO clue or make no effort at all are guiding us. perhaps that's how it's supposed to work but then that's why the system is so fucked up and the people in charge are manipulating the system like they are.

Easy answer: Socialism.

Longer answer: The excuse makers that aren't well off don't want you to be.

The answer is, because you can afford it. Why does that keep you up at night it's a pretty simple concept.

At a flat tax rate, the minimum flat percentage from everybody would be significant and sometimes crippling to those at the lower end at the economic scale (say everybody under $100k), and would be a reduction in the actual amount for you.

Again not everybody has had the opportunities you have had and there are people who those opportunities are actually supressed by the very nature of society. As a participant in society the cost of society providing you those opportunities is that you have to pay in to benefit the society as a whole, and the more you have pulled out the more is expected of you.

If you want to be really pissed, the very wealthy have set up exemptions for them and don't pay their fair share into the system causing the people in the middle like you to carry the biggest burden. If you want to be pissed at a particular group, don't be pissed at the poor for whom you have to cover for because they can't, be pissed at the very rich you cover for who could cover for them selves and have just chosen not to for selfish reasons. You know like trump.

You are voting for the guy who fucks you over, wants to do it more, and you give him a pass for fucking you over because he has a lot of money and you kinda want to aspire to that. Seems pretty simple to me.

I agree, education has failed America in general and at most of the economic levels. So let's vote for someone whose platform is education. Oh wait...education hasn't been a republican platform since the space race.

I don't know why this isn't the criteria already. How anyone could refute requiring an ID to vote is beyond me.

Because it has historically been used as a precedent to suppress groups of people like the poor, blacks, native Americans, old people, etc.

Voter fraud may be a red herring issue in this country but voter suppression is very real.

The house of cards is falling. There was a reason the Clinton Foundation operates in countries that don't issue birth certificates.

...because the dems have done so much to help foster and instill the great public education systems we see today right? if what they were doing was so great, the budgets wouldn't be so freaking high and the levels so low thus creating the problem I'm speaking about.

in the end however, it's not the Fed's place to really tackle that. IMO it's up to the states with the support of the Fed where needed $$ but mostly up to the families to ensure they are actually parenting and raising good kids who actually study and not gang-bang.

but then as I type this my wife is prepping the kids for school and doing a final review of their homework they completed last night in what we have as a set regiment to insure they are getting the most out of their day. Again, proper parenting.

Requiring them to have an state issued ID is suppressing them? Sounds to me like the poor, blacks, native Americans and old people should be better. Seriously....get a freaking ID. Pretty simple.

I agree that a flat tax isn't the end all be all. Percentages are deceiving at either the high or low end of the income spectrum. I personally don't agree with having much of an "income" based tax system as I do support more of a consumption based system.

Again not everybody has had the opportunities you have had and there are people who those opportunities are actually suppressed by the very nature of society.
meh...life isn't fair. sorry, but the above impacts everyone including me, you, the movie stars, ball players, so there's really no river of tears flowing from me. people need to accept what they have and the cards they start with and begin to make more of their lives vs trying to point fingers at where others based on where they are starting out.

As a participant in society the cost of society providing you those opportunities is that you have to pay in to benefit the society as a whole, and the more you have pulled out the more is expected of you.
I also believe there comes a point where what you call "Society Providing Opportunities" ends and the benefits of those that work hard and smart take over. Society didn't / doesn't provide ME with EVERYTHING. I benefit from society SOME but the majority of what I have I EARNED through my OWN work and efforts. I put in a lot and I DESERVE to be rewarded.

Pay the Performers and let them reap the benefits of their efforts. The bullshit that society provides us everything is exactly that, bullshit. No different on the other end that it's not society's fault that some are sucking ass in life.

Again, play the cards you're dealt and don't rely so much on where you came from or started with. Time for people to realize that life is what they make of it. Life doesn't just happen to you but it happens because of you. Until they move past a victim mindset they will continue to suck ass due in part to their own actions and mindset, not at the fault of anyone else.

Triple play, bases loaded.

ok, how about we make them free then. And also how about we don't refuse to give one if the person owes outstanding fines. At least three of those groups are disproprotionatly are affected by the lack of transparency in police enforcement and heavily penalized by the justice system.

Because the $8.50 fee is too much for Ohio people... Dude, really? They even get their ID's mailed to them.

I don't believe Oho withholds them based on fines, but then is it really too much to ask that people PAY FINES THEY OWE? Again, since when is it wrong to hold people TO THE SAME STANDARDS? Sorry, but I DO expect people to be accountable for their actions and pay fines when owed.

You talk about "the very wealthy who don't pay their fair share into the system" yet you want to give a break to others for not doing the same. Double standard much? Last I checked, being accountable for ones actions is FREE.

Shouldn't they all be free? Including CCW permits? Oh wait, forgot the constitution doesn't say anything about needing to qualify and pay for a permit to exercise my 2nd amendment.

2nd amendment also doesn't say anything about keeping guns for hobby and recreation

We've all had that friend, or have been that friend who keeps getting in relationships with abusive and cheating people. No matter how many times your friends try to help you out and see that person is bad, you keep going back to be mistreated. That's what I'm getting from people supporting Clinton. Stop dating people who tell you what you want to hear. Find someone who tells it straight, even if you don't like it. Being an adult is about making the hard, right decisions, over the easy wrong decisions that.
