He was one of my heroes. Sad news...I heard he was hospitalized this morning.

Very sad indeed. I'm fortunate enough to get the see him about once a month for the last three years. He's definitely getting weaker but he still walk straight and tall. RIP Mr. Glenn

They don't make them like that anymore

One of the truly great men of our time and one who remained modest despite his achievements.

Many years ago (maybe in the 80's?) he spoke at a dinner I attended and he told this story (as best I can remember it):

I recently spoke at an event and after my speech, the host speaker heaped praises on me and called me "one of the few true American heroes. I thought about that phrase a few minutes, and then leaned over to my wife, Annie, and said, "you know, there really aren't many true American heroes."

Annie immediately replied, "i know one thing -- there's one fewer than what you're thinking."

So whenever I'm praised and my head starts to get too big, I'm blessed to have Annie by my side to keep me on course.
