FWIW, car covers don't do much from my experience if the paint isn't the best to start with (early '00s GM ). I keep a cover on it and was amazed at how bad it still got. I think what the cover may have done for blocking UV doesn't cover the salt-spray or intense heat. The key is to have a garage or carport to protect the car from direct sunlight contact.
