Jewtoys
I have a 95 cobra motor which I've converted to carb in my car. Just got it running, but need to address a breather setup. I'm not a v8 or carb guy, and hate sifting through mustang forums to read 50 different responses. I currently have the stock valve covers on the car, with no pcv or breathers. Can I just toss these on? https://www.cjponyparts.com/scott-drake-valve-cover-cobra-powered-by-ford-black-pair-289-302-351w/p/VC174/?year=1969&gclid=CjwKCAiA6qPRBRAkEiwAGw4Sdm7YTZHAfj6XRmM6S9Y2WdbC7XyjEyTYEXWtwlX_pVM7YQXgGysSvxoCWiEQAvD_BwE With two filters, and call it a day? Road race car if that matters. I don't care about emissions, etc.
Cordell
If you are going to be spending time thrashing on a road course you'll definitely want the PCV connected to engine vacuum (likely through a catch can) with just one breather to allow fresh air into the crank case. Just having breathers on the valve covers may work, but if the engine is able to push any oil out the breathers you could have a fire (worst case, and not super likely seeing how it's not boosted). Having vacuum will also help ring seal. If it were just something to tool around on the street where you wouldn't be seeing a lot of RPMs constantly it wouldn't matter as much, but the harder the engine works the easier it can pressurize the crankcase. iwashmycar
So maybe like this type of one? It would give you that one filter https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cylinder-Aluminum-Engine-Oil-Catch-Reservoir-Breather-Tank-Can-W-Filter-Black/232584985687?hash=item3627253c57:g:HDoAAOSwYxBaCkM8&vxp=mtr I was just linking this one because I have the non-breather version on mine and have been very happy with it. Ackbar00
You can get a set of valve covers off an older mustang, it will have a provision to put the PCV in and then it routes back to under the carb. (The Cobra ones you listed look like they do that). Here is what it looks like on my 69: https://imgur.com/g4CT4rY On a side note, I am looking to put a roller motor in my 69, what distributor did you use for your carb conversion? Everything I read says an 85 Mustang 5 speed from Autozone.
zeitgeist57
HOT ROD was just poo-poo'ing the Duraspark dizzy on Ford V8's. They of course recommended a $500 MSD unit.

Everything I read says an 85 Mustang 5 speed from Autozone. I'm running a GM HEI setup. Simple, and cheap. Running an efi pump, with a regulator built to cut pressures down low for a carb. It's still a bit high. 9 psi is the lowest I can get it. Switching to FI with one of these setups... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fif-30003?seid=srese1&cm_mmc=pla-google-_-shopping-_-srese1-_-fitech-fuel-injection&gclid=CjwKCAiAjanRBRByEiwAKGyjZagUque4tpRkUeKSsOOhnPl0HB-wFZ4jrvE6stMWo210WSXP3DghRBoCvBkQAvD_BwE
