Mace1647545504
Did anyone see what happened on the 1st lap? There was a celebrity pace car driver put the ZR1 into the wall and now there is a delay
B3NN3TT
The "celebrity" was Mark Reuss, a GM executive.

o0n8
GM's statement said weather was a major factor. LOL. It was dry and sunny.
Not Brian
little too much gas over a hump/bend. Looked more like an executive who should stay behind his desk.
Cordell
Probably not the last time we see an idiot crash one of these. Almost feel bad for him doing it about as publicly as possible, but he's still an idiot.
zeitgeist57
Was he supposed to walk away from the group like that? He looked to be setting a pretty fast “pace”...
BIGGU
Looks to me like an un experienced driver in a unfamiliar car. On throttle over that hump will do that more often than not.

Even as hard as you can go in a street car is slow for an Indycar on the same circuit. Pace car drivers have to hustle, or the race cars can't get temp into the tires, making for an unsafe start. Indycar drivers will back off and rush forward periodically during the pace lap to generate more heat. Looks to me like an un experienced driver in a unfamiliar car. On throttle over that hump will do that more often than not. Mark Reuss has driven the pace car at Belle Isle many times in the past. So he's no stranger to this; I guess he's just not savvy enough to handle 755 horsepower on street tires on a nasty surface like Belle Isle. Crossle
Race Control may have been in his head set telling him to hustle along and just got caught out in a bad spot on the track (hump). Bad timing and concentrating on something else.
