Political Fart Noise Part II

Well do you trust the government today? The Trump administration? Could you imagine what it would be like if they had even greater control over your life? You and I both didn't want Trump to win, but he did, so in a way we had no control over who won even though we voted. At least all the dry cleaner will do is fuck up my favorite shirt, not confiscate my land because it's owned by the state now.

The first objection I have is that you look at "the government" as one single entity, when in the US it is not. It's actually dozens of independent entities when you look at it at all levels (and the number changes by geography), made up of the 3 federal branches, plus the 3 state branches, plus the local/municipal/county/village/township/whatever the place you live calls your local government. Each level has a different amount of interaction from the individual citizen to affect change, from voting in national elections to attending city council meetings.

I don't have to have any trust in the Trump administration (and I don't) or any one particular branch, as long as I have faith in the system and layers of bureaucracy to prevent truly heinous things from happening. Trump tries to implement a Muslim ban and the judiciary stops him, and even when they don't then the states say they aren't going to spend the money to enforce laws the federal government should be enforcing, and so on. Trump as been confined to the very limited power of the executive branch by his own doing (and I should point out even when his own team has control of another branch), where as other former presidents were able to interact with the other branches and make lasting change.

That's right. The Soviet Union wanted to be the best country in the world, so did Nazi Germany, so does Mexico, so do Venezuela, so does Zimbabwe so does North Korea. Constantly coming up with improvements. Trump wants to make a lot of improvements too, he even wrote it on a hat.

You are confusing the method with evolution. Every government wants improvement, even the bad ones, and some of them had some really bad ideas as to what constituted "improvement". you are using the worst examples as representative of the whole, to argue against a fundamental concept - that no government can fight entropy and all must evolve or die.

Won’t happen - a large group, if not a majority of the US public simply don’t care about any of this shit. Economy is good (won’t last, I know that) and it’s the other half of the counties version of “making progress” considering what they experienced for 8 years under Obama.

And Cohen says that Trump directed him to violate the election laws. I'm sure the law and order folks will be here any minute to start chanting. Lock him up?
He'll likely say anything to stay out of jail. Not that he hasn't flipped his story or anything.

and?

Anyone with half a brain knows how to recognize and navigate these corrections.

I think you missed the point.

Be Tim, chant lock her up even though you can't actually point to any crime Hilary had done, but when it comes to a real crime and someone who can actually be charged suddenly become a skeptic because it's your team. :dumb:

Cohen didn't need to cooperate at first when Mueller raided his home, offices for evidence.

They built their case, laid it out in front of Cohen...offered a plea deal which he took. Cohen's attorney on NPR this morning, saying more to come.

Bottom line - Trump knowingly confirmed and influenced the election with those 2 affair payouts. The evidence has been brought to surface (confirmed through Don Jr) that they did meet with Russians as well. It is not looking good for the guy.

I think the House and Senate are turning blue after the midterm elections.

What a mess.

Do you really think his supporters didn't think he was banging porn stars and playmates or escorts? Or that they even care? It was years ago too so it's not like either of these relationships were even close to his being a candidate.

Rich dude paying his tramps to stay quiet.....no surprise; no cares. I doubt a measurable number of his voters would have been "influenced" because they would have been shocked to know he cheated on his wife and paid extortion to keep a personal relationship personal.

Cohen pleading to something like this in a lame attempt to try and tie things to Trump isn't shocking either. It's pretty clear that they are going after everyone they can with unrelated charges to try and squeeze them and if they need to they will have them plea out to other charges to try and tie it to Trump in some way or make him look bad.

I don't care that Clinton was getting blowies in the WH, I just care that he lied about it. I don't care that Trump was banging prozzies, he lied about it and paid money to influence the election. Doesn't matter if people would've voted for him anyway, we don't know that and neither did he, but he tried to keep it quiet just in case.

It's too bad because he finally tweeted something last night that could turn me into a supporter if he handles it right.

Honestly, reading some of the comments on there makes me never want to vote Democrat ever again.

you are getting used.

Tucker Carlson uses South Africa to feed the fear that white people are under attack, president sees the piece and uses it as an opportunity to appeal to his hard core base. Neither have any honest intention to help the situation in South Africa. Promising to study something is literally the least amount of commitment the executive branch can give to anything.

Maybe a more diplomatic and world collaborative president would be able to leverage the US into a position to influence the South African government, but diplomatic he ain't. Let's just see if this kicked over rock turns up anything at all, my money is on it won't.

This.

I am offended by the adultery, but apparently once you get to a certain level of power it seems commonplace. *shrug* #metoo

I still would've voted for anyone but Hillary, doe...

Agreed. Drudge Report publishes a lot of the hand-picked stories that the conservative media runs with, or vice versa.

Shawn Hannity has admitted in interviews that he vets his messaging on his shows KNOWING that Trump is going to listen to whatever narrative Fox brings up for the day. You can almost tie a 100% coorelation between FoxNews content and a 24-hour response by DJT.

Right, looking into something doesn't mean a whole lot, but I'm hopeful that it will lead into something that will prevent the SA government from continuing their bullshit. SA's currency's value did dropped against the dollar after Trump sent out that tweet, and it's back to almost a record low because of this issue and because of the situation with Turkey.

I honestly don't care what his motivations are. If he's doing it to get his "hard core base" worked up, so be it if something good comes from it. At the very least, it raises awareness.

In this case he didn't even hide it, he linked to Tucker Carlson in the tweet.

Everyone lies about it. If that's your bar for voting for someone than you are really limiting who you would vote for as most politicians dip their dingy in strange waters and hide it. He just has the ability to do it with money more so than most.

They all use money and power to influence elections too. That's the who point of what is happening on both sides right now.

I LOL about any comments about him trying to influence the election in his favor as he has opened his mouth and said more shit he shouldn't say than anyone and yet his give a fuck meter is at zero.

First his haters said he was out to lose it purposely, then they said he was just out to blow up the system, then it was that he didn't even expect to win, now he is crooked and not only 'colluded' to win but was influencing everyone to win.

If he pulled off the latter then he must secretly be the fucking Hoodinie Genius that every knows he isn't to have aligned the stars to make it all happen. It's amazing the theories being bounced around about how he pulled off a win.

No secret. The anti Trump media does it too knowing he bites on everything they say. I'm confident Hannity talks and consults with him regularly as they have been buddies for a while.

With diplomatic you mean pouring money into their pockets as United States diplomacy does. Just throw money at the situation and call it diplomacy. The more you speak the less intelligent you get. At least he hasn’t been caught in office, oh wait you said that when Clinton did this and lied what did it matter who he was having sex with and lying about it. Sounds pretty hypocritical to me, but you live by those rules.
