Switching gears for a moment.....

can we talk about this for a second:

https://gizmodo.com/steve-king-demands-list-of-google-staff-so-he-can-check-1831032193

I kind of feel like this crosses a line, esp since Google is a private, for profit company, and not a public utility. Although the source is somewhat inflammatory (unusual for gizmodo but not for it's related publications), I don't think it is wrong in drawing the Mccarthy parallel.

How do you feel about this?

It's bullshit. Hand over how your algorithm works...YEAH OK

My favorite from this was when the dude held up his iPhone demanding answers and Sundar goes "iPhone is made by a different company".

Old guys who don't understand technology lol

But he keeps saying "we," which erroneously implies some sort of human intervention. It's all machine learning algorithms, the test for fitness is [probably] which results get clicked on the most. It's so abstract that it doesn't make a lick of sense to talk about "bias" in the search results.

It is all machine learning. It also takes into account your location and your search/click history. "WHY I GET SO MUCH PISS PORN AD"...well bruv, probs cause you like to search for piss porn.

Pro tip: Use incognito mode. Google will still know you like piss porn, but your family won't.

That kind of health care is great BUT..it's said the doctors work in clinics..what they doen't mention is how much they make. I'll bet they don't make $10k a year. Thay wouldn't fly in the U.S.

Remember this is a communist regime and such everyone get nothing.

Come on what kind of human being are you? Don't you know Healthcare is not supposed to be a for-profit business model. That's just wrong.

Finally you say something intelligent Tim, even if you meant it sarcastically. FYI, not for profit doesn't mean government run, you could require all the medical insurance companies to operate as charities and it would significantly change their approach to conflicts of profit vs care.

Dr.s in most socalized medicine Countries do earn less than their American counterparts but in the majority of those countries its sill six figures. The cost of the education is the deciding factor, people aren't going to spend the money to go to med school if there isn't adequate compensation on the back end.

It’s the lawyers that need regulation, they should work for charity.

It's as heavily a regulated an industry as any other, and more than most. It's one of the few industries that has a very active and powerful ethics board.

Also the majority of attorneys donate services pro bono and in a large number of states there is a minimum required number of hours of community service. All attorneys have a duty to their clients so they don't brag about it much.

I know you made your comments just because you are envious of people who have more knowledge about law, government, politics and ethics than you, but it's Christmas and I felt like you deserved a serious answer to your probably facetious question.

It dawned on me this morning...

The reason Trump wants the border wall - in the face of irrefutable evidence that our immigration problem will NOT be solved by a physical wall - is that he wants a monument to his presidency that he can see and touch, and be evidenced by all. Like the pyramids of Egypt and Great Wall of China, he wants an engineered structure that people will remember him by.

Since it's clear that gubmint isn't giving him $5B to start the wall...didn't he say he was going to make Mexico pay for the wall?

I imagine that's part of it, but I feel like there is something else here too.

there are lots of US engineering projects that would have a massive positive effect on the US and not nearly be as contentious as the wall. He could re do the entire water delivery and plumbing system of Flint, complete with a host of public park fountains that could look like his ejaculating penis for all I care (named after him of course) and he'd be lauded as a hero. But he has no desire to do that.

Also George W bush basically got the "the wall" with the Secure Fence act of 2006 and honestly - nobody is remembering W for that.

I feel like there is a way he has made money off this somehow. I can't prove it, and it's completely speculative, but if he gets it, somehow he's going to get something of value out of it. Maybe it's giving the construction contracts to his buddies to clear debts to them, or maybe he has a stake in the materials supplier, who knows. He's going to profit from this though, he will find a way.

I know it's been a long two years, but do you remember when he begged the Mexican president to cover for his idiotic claims?

The only thing I will ask you though is on the wall, you and I both have a political problem. My people stand up and say, “Mexico will pay for the wall” and your people probably say something in a similar but slightly different language. But the fact is we are both in a little bit of a political bind because I have to have Mexico pay for the wall – I have to. I have been talking about it for a two year period.... So what I would like to recommend is – if we are going to have continued dialogue – we will work out the wall. They are going to say, “who is going to pay for the wall, Mr. President?” to both of us, and we should both say, “we will work it out.” It will work out in the formula somehow. As opposed to you saying, “we will not pay” and me saying, “we will not pay.”

Because you and I are both at a point now where we are both saying we are not to pay for the wall. From a political standpoint, that is what we will say. We cannot say that anymore because if you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that. I am willing to say that we will work it out, but that means it will come out in the wash and that is okay. But you cannot say anymore that the United States is going to pay for the wall. I am just going to say that we are working it out. Believe it or not, this is the least important thing that we are talking about, but politically this might be the most important talk about.

You have a very big mark on our back, Mr. President, regarding who pays for the wall. This is what I suggest, Mr. President – let us stop talking about the wall. I have recognized the right of any government to protect its borders as it deems necessary and convenient. But my position has been and will continue to be very firm saying that Mexico cannot pay for that wall.

But you cannot say that to the press. The press is going to go with that and I cannot live with that.

Great points.

God forbid this wall project gets underway...there will ABSOLUTELY be some swampy, Trump-connected contractors getting the job. That's politics.

It'll get weird if there's a bunch of Russians with old Cold War-era construction equipment coming into New Mexico to build the wall.

I think you guys are overthinking it, I think when he says "Build the wall!" the xenophobic morons he's surrounded himself with at his rallies cheer for him, and he likes it when people like him.

Overthinking Trump's intentions: it's too easy to do.

I wonder if you would call out Hilldawg if she won. My guess is, no.

Absolutely I would, but let's be clear - I highly doubt Clinton would use her public office as sitting president to profit.

Do you understand the difference between making a legit paycheck after the person is out of office and making a paycheck while in office? and why one is corruption and one isn't?

Forget it Kerry, you only care about Trump's corruption because the libral media has brainwashed you into thinking ornj man bad. This may be tough for you to hear but you're not actually capable of forming your own opinions about things that are obviously bad. Also there's no corruption, also everyone's corrupt so it's no big deal, also corruption's not illegal, also what about Hillary's emails?

Not regulated enough, funny how regulations for everything else is good, but more proper regulations for you are not needed. Pretty typical. Envious isn’t the word I would use when describing you, I have seen photos.

But as your partner Greg researched , you two must have big “penors” because you don’t like Trump. I’m guessing his research has delved deep into the subject.

this is my Christmas gift to you - to give legit answers to your partially incoherent ramblings and I am assuming meth fueled rage posts, merry xmas.

Ok, what "regulation(s)" do you propose? How do YOU feel the legal industry is under regulated? What is it that you think the law isn't addressing currently that it should? Please, be specific.

Also how do you get that I feel more regulations are not needed from my statements that the legal industry is already heavily regulated and I'm fine with it? Honestly, I don't have a problem with regulation in the legal industry and I think it, like every other industry should keep moving forward toward improvement. I think you are just saying what you want to hear instead of actually using those reading comprehension skills.
