Desk with a PC built in

I started to design a new desk a few months ago. My original plan was to build a few quick white cabinets with a slab on top. Somehow I came across PCs in desks and it snowballed from there. I don't know anything about computers but I have some tools  Here is the initial sketch:

Laying out 8020 extrusion:

Printing panel brackets. The closest thing I found to a panel mount was $7. These cost me $.07.

This will be used mainly for Solidworks and probably MS Flight Sim 2020. Any tips, criticism, etc. welcome.

That looks great so far. How accessible will the ports be? That's my normal failing issue is going to plug a new device in and struggling with cable management issues.

The motherboard will sit in the low in the "PC case" and be accessible from the thinner part of the desk. There will be another aluminum panel with cut outs for the various connections. The bottom of the thin part of desk will be hollow or 1/2" ply for strength with cable track. And obviously the USB hub is right in front. If that makes sense....

While I love the idea to use aluminum extrusions, I hate built in desk with a passion.

Put your PC in a 2/3/4U server enclosure and put it on rails, then its still quite portable and easy to work on.

Awesome work though.

Where would I put all the LEDs? Gotta add HP somewhere. The first (only) PC I built years ago has been opened zero times since. I have enough crap to tinker with. I don't want my PC to be one of those things. Hopefully..

"Where would I put all the LEDs?"

Ah, so you're married and don't have to present yourself as normal :)

Jokes aside for what I'm about to post below.

For reference, this is my current setup. I am planning a future far larger desk where the mini rack can be integrated and hidden within it. Having everything (minus current PC case on top which does fit laying down) in a rackmount and on rails formfactor is so convenient I don't believe I will ever go back.
