Church of Karen then. Hallowed be her name.

Thanks. :)

eta: There was an Air Force Chaplain's aide who posted on r/AirForce how the religious exemption process for the vaccine would work. Short version -- it won't, since virtually nobody will be able to produce the required evidence that they've been practicing a religion that has specific doctrines against vaccines.

My idiot sister has been using a religious exemption for the public school vaccination requirements for 15 years now (she's a full on anti-vaxxer, her covid anti-vaxxing didn't come as a surprise.) Her religion? The very pro-vaccine Roman Catholic Church. I'm sure she has all those same copy/pasted email templates.

I understand school systems don't want to wade into religious wars but it pisses me off that it's so easy to make a complete mockery of religious exemptions.

you decided to travel on the hrpt so you can post cool vids being high risk and then wants to wish death on people.

I don't wish death on anyone, but as greg pointed out, everyone has some form of empathy fatigue at this point and I don't really want to try stop the stupid from being stupid anymore, if it was just them that it killed off. But it isn't and so I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong suit because you missed that "but" that came after "I'd be all for it".

yes, due to some of the medications I take I can be considered high risk for a poor outcome if contracted and I mismanage my meds. However, I am relatively low risk for transmission or contracting due to being vaccinated, plus having my booster before going out on the HRPT, and taking covid tests prior to and after the tour. yeah we didn't talk about it in the videos because it just invites dipshits like you to go "how ironic" (when you clearly don't know how irony works either) in the comments. Wanna know a real example of Irony? It's an unvaccinated person giving any vaccinated person any shit for being reckless about transmission risk.

flip side.... family member who's had both shots, double masked all the time, and tested positive for covid. couldn't pass a molecular test to travel to hawaii and instead traveled down south since the rules allowed it. the covid shots don't stop transmission even with close family and they still travel due to this belief that im good due to getting multiple shots all the while lecturing others even in a high risk age group.

With your fantastic (/sarcasm) grasp of probability and statistics it's a good thing you aren't a professional gambler.

Nothing is certain, yes precautions don't stop 100%, but they do have an effect on the likelihood and probability of transmission and outcome. That's how probability works. Yes there are still going to be people who "win" the worlds shittiest lottery and contract it, but in aggregate as the number of "winners" gets smaller then the risk gets less for all of us. The more people who contract it the worse it gets for us overall.

If you were in a casino playing blackjack, and the dealer leaned in and said "If you wear a blue tie you'll get blackjack 70% of the time (up from 4.8%)" and you look around and see it working for the other players in the casino, are you really going to tell me you would turn that down? Are you really going to say "no thanks" to what is essentially free money 70% of the time are you really going to say no to that? you'd have to be an idiot right? So why are you content to be an idiot about masks and vaccines in a similar situation?

I agree not going to lie. that was for greg.

well kerry vaccinations have drastically gone up in our country and the problem isnt being solved clearly. even countries with high vaccination rates are still suffering from out breaks at an increased rate. covid likely has become the new stronger version of the flu which isn't set in stone. if it was so serious then if parks recreations in the open air are shut down then so should in store purchases with big box retailers.

when you work in the warehouse industry, you see what big business' are able to get away with and the risk they put there employees in for there profit. most are minorities. there is no w@h option.

yes the Vaccination rate has gone up drastically, but that's because prior to this pandemic the vaccination rate for covid was 0 and now it's 63% national average.

still 63% is an average and there are a lot of areas that have very low vaccination rates across all counties. Ohio has 53% vaccination but the majority of counties are in the 30-40% range with a few larger counties reporting in high 50-low 60% vaccination. That's just not enough. You look at a state like California where you have counties with near 70% vaccination rate and their spread is very low.

you are trying to say that vaccination isn't solving the problem because we have vaccination and the problem is persisting - but the signs are pretty clear not enough people are vaxxed.

In areas where you have close to 70% or more there is low spread, in areas below that spread is high. very few counties have near 70% vaccination (none in ohio). The more variants that come to light the less effective it becomes. People only think there are 1 or 2 variants of covid-19 but there are almost a dozen, only 1 or 2 pose a serious risk to people by being vaccine resistant.

And here you are saying people shouldn't take a vaccine because people not taking a vaccine have made things worse and why do anything to make it better. It's flawed logic, and proof that cynicism is just intellectual laziness ("we are all fucked so why should I give up my freedom?")

never did i say that no one should take the vaccine. people are welcome to do as they please with there own health as they see fit. my wife got the vaccine and more power to her.

we're talking about a 99.983% survival rate in our country overall without considering any health issues. I and kiddos are in the 99.999 group. it's all one big game of fuck around and find out. I'll take my chances how I see fit and you're welcome to do the same.

Keep in mind again that parks were shut down for people to walk around in nature/exercise while big box retailers whos shoppers where in close distance to other shoppers were packed inside. my jerb is considered essential and we do nothing more than make soda. yes soda. covid logic. cant complain too much because i made bank since so few were willing to come to work.

What if this is natural selection..a dawin theory..mother nature trimming down the species so the others can/will survive.

We are taxing the earth's resources and can't keep doing it.

Some who take the shot are still dying so there is that. Also those who aren't taking the shot are dying..yes in larger numbers.

I say let's nature trim the weak and the rest live on. I know this sounds crass.

Good for those that take the shot and good for those that don't take it. It's your body and your choice.

Lastly, the rate of death from this is only about 2%..but if you are part of that 2% it's a huge number.

The mortality rate is around 2%, not 0.017%, and that is using death statistics that are believed to be severely undercounted. And yes, the mortality rate does vary by age group, but you're not 99.999% likely to survive. The post/meme the originated statistics like this is fake news.

As said many times before, just looking at survival also doesn't account for all the long term effects many survivors have (a larger group than the 2% that die). Yes, some people have little to no symptoms, while others can't walk to their mailbox 6 months later.

Keep in mind on vaccination statistics that the distribution of vaccinations across age groups and demographics are not uniform. The lower age groups have done a possible poor job getting vaccinated, and children aren't even eligible yet.

Then there's the added problem of beds full of COVID patients causing people with other conditions to get turned away and die.

Why is it you guys always focus on the death number and ignore the fact that that many who have covid have lingering injuries and side effects? Is it because it doesn't have a tidy number? It's looking like it's significantly larger than the death toll.

in 2020, roughly 378,000 people died from covid. This made it the 3rd most common cause of health related death behind heart disease and cancer. By contrast, preventable deaths in the US usually rank 3rd at 179,000. yeah it's a lot of people, even though the percentages don't seem to indicate it, doesn't mean people shouldn't do anything. in 1967, the year before seat belts were required by federal law, the death rate for an automobile accident was 25.53 per 100,000 people in 2018 it was 11.18 per 100,000 people. That's a huge decrease. We went from roughly 50K deaths per year to 30K deaths per year because of seat belts, airbags, advancements in engineering, etc.. and that's not taking into account the population grew by 200% between 1960 and 2018. doing stuff decreases the death toll, but you need to get people on board instead of having them acting like a bunch of selfish assholes.

I truly cannot believe you called me out for saying, "Just don't expect me to give a shit when you or your loved ones end up drawing the short straw," and then almost immediately afterward you say that maybe people drawing the short straw is just nature culling the weak.

Do you even self aware, bro?

The difference is I did my part by getting the vaccine to try and prevent the weak from dying.

Has there not been enough "time" to research the vaccines, or has there been such an abundance of resources poured into that research process (given the global need) that it's been executed faster than typical?

Current Testing on the approved vaccine is not completed with results due until July 30,2023. So, NO, there has not been enough time. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04848584

Due May 2, 2023 https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04368728

There are 94 current studies... there are 9 completed studies. For comparison, there are 8 that are suspended, terminated, or withdrawn.

75 percent of American adults have had at least one shot but go ahead and be special snowflakes. Just don't expect me to give a shit when you or your loved ones end up drawing the short straw.

78% of eligible Israelis are vaccinated. They also have one of the highest daily infection rates worldwide despite one of the highest vaccination rates.

One of many articles with drugs that were deemed okay and were widely held as acceptable treatments by researchers, scientists and doctors. One on this list was on the market for 35 years after FDA approval. Cocaine was once an accepted treatment. Pervitin was given to soldiers for alertness... Meth. Things change over time and a year of research is not enough for me to be comfortable taking this medicine.

Ah, yes, the argument that "only vaccinated people get sick." I'm seeing this all over my community Facebook comments, and they either ignore the hospitalization statistics or claim they're being falsified.

on the flip side... why the biguns always ignore there cost to others for insurance premiums and there group is most likely to pass away or be hospitalized which increases my cost for insurance? now all of a sudden the folks who spent 0 time in the last 5-20 years worrying about there health and want to lecture others about health. now whos selfish.

not a 1:1 comparison - talking about the model of career funded insurance is its own discussion and one that would rival war and peace if done on the forum. That said - your premium will never get cheaper, it only gets cheaper for the company. that's how the model works so being an asshole and blaming other's health problems on raising your cost is bullshit, the company will still take out the same amount, they just want to pay less.

Also, this statement kinda ignores literally all the other programs companies, people, the government, etc are trying to do combat heart disease, obesity, smoking, etc. you automatically assume people aren't doing anything but it's not that simple. You think people don't care about their health when there are other outside factors you just refuse to consider. But I forget, you are a forklift driver in a warehouse so you know more about people than all the doctors, more about laws than the lawyers, and more about companies than the CEOs - you must live at the holiday inn express.

My dad was in good health, worked out 3 days a week, got COVID and died. It's not just diabetic fatties that have a hard time with it.

While I don't think Biden should have gone ahead with the mandate right now (politically), I think private industry was already on the path to take care of this through insurance surcharges (same as they already do smoking) and job-specific mandates.
