Squidy
If your looking into learn I would head up to harbor freight and pick up a regulator and spray kit of your choice. I was able to pick up my whole setup for less then $40.00 assuming you already have a compressor. Best way to learn is just do it my friend. Just be prepared to do lots of sanding! I'm away from the shop today, but will be there tomorrow and some saturday. drop me a line and we'll see if something can be worked out. jporter12
If you do get your own gun, the key to keeping it working well is KEEP IT CLEAN! When you're done with it, take it apart and clen it thoroughly! At our shop, we have 3 guns that we primarily use, one for primer, one for basecoat, and one for clear. In all actuality, we use one of them for base AND clear. These 3 guns are $99 Ingersoll-Rand HVLP guns like you get at Lowes. They perform nearly as well as some of the $400+ guns that we've tried out! I'm out east of Johnstown. If you want to get with me when you're ready (you said in your PM a couple weeks) I can see if I can help you out! I'm going to be at the shop this weekend working on a body kit for a 350z, and the upper fairing for my bike! I do paint and body work as a hobby, and mechanical work everyday, and we do both at the shop.

Squidy
squidy - that sounds awesome that may be the route i choose. was it 40 bucks 20 years ago, or was that price pretty recent? sorry, sometimes people post prices but it was when they bought it way back when and now it has inflated...I bought my setup about 4 or 5 months ago from harbor freight. No complaints so far just remember when you finish with your gun/airbrush to clean it. I usually spray some paint thinner through it for about 5min or so just to make sure its good and clean. yummy_waffles
Hello. Not to threadjack, but I, too, am looking to learn. I was thinking of going to OTC and get into auto body repair/custom graphics http://www.ohiotechnicalcollege.com/ but don't have the money for it now. I've been going to harbor freight tools to check out some supplies, but not quite sure what all I need. I don't even have a compressor to begin with. So I'm in, if anyone wants to teach me
