and towards the end, it was 50-75 mile strectches before i had to stop and rest the bum!! lol

No doubt! I did 405 miles Saturday and last year I did a 600+ mile day and the ass starts to feel like your sitting on one HUGE bruise. My hamstrings would throb too. About every 75-100 I'd creep off the bike and do stretches and lay down stretching out for about 15 minutes, then I'd feel great again. Then I'd repeat when needed.
