Ok so first off I don't know that much about livestock........

But whats up with the long hair cows/bulls

Is that a certain breed or something?

Most cows I see around here are short haired or whatever its called....

They are Scottish Highland cattle. The white one is the bull, dark brown on the left is the mom. The other 2 are heifers. So yeah, they are a different breed than what you are used to seeing

Sam' date=' is this what you do for a living? Raise cattle?

Or are you independently wealthy and just like having cows around?[/quote']

The cattle and the sheep are just a hobby and help teach the kids responsiblity.

I dont actually work for a living. I have a job, but I wouldn't call it work:p

Wow. Over do it much? My dad just got us a puppy when we were little. You could have saved some serious bank' date=' brother. Next time you have a 'great idea' run it by me first.. okay??[/quote']

Uh, we also have rabbits, ducks and guinea's. :p

Let me explain a little more for ya Paulie. We gave my daughter a ewe. She helps take care of all the animals but when that ewe has lambs in the spring, we sell them once they are weaned. Usually get around $500 for 1 lamb. Our daughter gets every dime of that money. Make a little more sense?

That's good stuff. I guess I need to talk to you instead. We keep getting new animals but we spend money so they can't breed and nobody ever gives me money for caring for them.

You're doing it wrong.

Story of my life' date=' bro!! No joke. :nono:[/quote']

We dont buy anything that we can't get a profit from. Rabbit go for 15-30 each. Ducks go for 15 each. Doesn't seem like a whole lot but it adds up. The cattle go fo a little over a grand/head.

Hell, we just drove 1100 miles to get 2 ewe lambs to add to our farm but they will pay for themselves the first time they lamb.

Lyns and I need to ride up to your place and scope the setup. I'm definitely liking what I'm hearing.

Take the rabbit's for example, the wifey has the cost to feed each one every month along with any other expenses that there may be.

ahhh buy a Bulldog . send him out once a week ,month whatever to get laid , easy $500 .

could not have anything like the lil cow at my house. Amstaf would try killing it , and if she got it down ... Meatball (bulldog) would try mounting it .... bad situation all around.

nice looking animals though. Grats
