CleaveTheGreat
So my car is starting to rust a little along the bottom of my door. I don't really wanna spend the money to take it somewhere and have it painted because as soon as I pay it off I'm trading it in. I know we have people that do painting and detailing on here and I was wondering what you guys would suggest to limit the damage. Rust converter and touch up paint? That's the only thing I can really think of.

CleaveTheGreat
That looks promising. Have you ever used it?
Disclaimer
My neighbor has and swears by it.I've heard nothing but good things about it.I will tell you, do not get it on your skin or clothes. It does not come off - it takes about a month to shed enough skin to where it's gone.
jermattak
how bad is the rust?
Tonik
Sem Products Rust-Mort. I used to sell it in my previous life. Available at most autobody supply stores. It works, very well.http://semproducts.com/Catalog.asp?prod=
CleaveTheGreat
Not too bad yet, the car is an 03. There's still a decent amount of metal underneath the rust. But I have noticed that it is beginning to spread.
serpentracer
por 15 isn't as good as this stuff.http://www.kbs-coatings.com/index.html
Disclaimer
Actually, I've kinda see that KBS stuff as the "new tech" while POR-15 is "old tech" - been around for long enough to establish a rep. What I've read about the KBS stuff seems good, but I know very few that've used it, so the reputation isn't as good because it's not as well known.I've actually recommended both the POR-15 and KBS stuff for bike gas tank prep and sealer, but I'm a research guy - I've never used either.
