Best Battery for my Gixxer?

Any AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery of the correct model/size.

Yuasa preferred

$90 to $110 (OEM can be much higher)

$45 to $60 for any other cheaper brand?

Be aware that mail order batteries seldom can be returned.

(Plus the shipping can be sky high)

Shop around locally.

edit: Competition Accessories in Springfield shows $87.65 on their website.

Iron Pony search fails, of course. I need one next Spring.

Probably either from Iron Pony or Competition Accessories.

Summit Racing also sells them.

People say WalMart sells some sort of brand. I haven't looked there.

If you wanted the absolute best, Yuasa by far. If you remember to keep the thing on a tender when you aren't using it, you can go with the cheaper knockoffs. I've got a PowerSportsPro bought from batterygiant.com for 45 bucks with free shipping, and put it on the tender as soon as I get back to the house after riding. Granted it's only 5 months old, but I've had no problems with it yet. And if I do, I'll just pick up another one and still be saving money over the Yuasa.

As far as I know, Yuasa is what the OEM uses on most everything.

And I'm guessing mine is original, and lasted 6 or 7 years so far.

I'm pretty sure cheaper batteries won't last 6 or 7 years,

but that won't matter if you only want a couple of years from a battery.

And that is probably what you will get with the cheapest battery found.

I tend to buy up at least one notch in quality as a minimum,

just so it won't fail in the first few months.... argh...

everyone that I hear that has a scorpion battery has had great luck with it.

don't buy a battery you have to fill with acid. they WILL leak.

this is a AGM battery. unlike a lead acid battery it doesn't need charged all winter. it can sit for over 12 months.

Let's repeat that. AGM batteries (Absorbed Glass Mat) win out over all others, especially over acid filled batteries. Gel cell weren't bad, but they had technology issues, and are more or less replaced by the AGM as a better technology.

I should also add that Yuasa makes several different quality levels of each battery model/size. So a range of prices and quality. I haven't looked into the differences yet.
