some news on 2010 sportbike models...

finally renamed the 1098R to the 1198R and gave it some crazy paint, and an aluminum gas tank that shaves weight and gives you a bit more gas.

also looks like theyre doing an 848 "dark". sounds a little racist to me.

rumor is there are no downgrades from the base 848, but the dark is 1000 bones cheaper.

Hmmmm... 'Bout time they switched. Good to see they moved on enough 1098Rs to get the 1198 rolling.

The paint scheme is cool, I guess, but not really as Ducati "racing" inspired as I expected. Kind of like seeing Ferrari launch their new supercar and instead of the heritage we all know, they roll it out in green...

Just doesn't seem to fit.

lmao. Im curious why they would do that. I will have to find some shits to read. Havent read much on the 1198R yet. I have been pwned :(

The stock tank is steel with a plastic cover.

You can't sell a street legal bike in the US with a plastic tank.

Then I've got to turn my Aprilias in, because I'm a no good law breaker. Just when I found my niche. Poop!

This is untrue.... my ducati monster has a plastic tank which is subsequently suffering from a swelling problem as a result. People think it's due to ethenol content in the fuel. Here is a thread about the warranty claims people are making

http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=25074.0

Further, all newly designed ducati's after 2005 or 2006 have plastic tanks, there may be a few exceptions like the 2006 supersport probably still has metal but the 848, 1098, 1198, s2r monsters and testestretta s4r monsters and newer all have plastic tanks. The thickness of the tank causes you to lose about a gallon of fuel capcity. The older metal tank monsters can take about 4 gallons, my bike takes about 3.2.
