Tbone9191
I want to take a wider 52 spoke rim from a Honda VTX 1800 and re-lace it to the stock Shadow Spirit Hub to allow for a wider tire on the rear? Anyone have or know where to find one?
Tonik
Can't answer your question but since you are going this far go the whole way and grab a Harley wheel and convert it to disc brakes. If I recall correctly, you don't need to relace. Just turn down the axle and weld up a bracket for the brake caliper...and a couple of spacer to shim it out. I have seen this mod on probably 20 Spirits. It goes very well and is pretty easy to do.http://www.spiritchopshop.com/index-1.htmlEdit: Oh, and you need a sprocket that takes the 525 chain with the Harley pattern. Lots of people sell those still I think, otherwise someone like Sprocket Specialties will make you one real quick and it won't cost much more than a regular sprocket. Switch it to a 38 tooth rear while you are at it. Edited February 1, 2010 by Tonik
Big Green Valley
Check the Classified section of this site for anything VTX. http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/index.phpBy the way, the rear spoked rim for the 1800 is the same size as the 1300. Good luck with your project.
BiggO
Check out www.shadowriders.net Use the search button, and you'll find a lot of info on the VTX relace vs the Harley conversion. I have a VTX rear rim on my Shadow right now. But I bought the rim already relaced.
