max power Posted April 16, 2010 Author Report Share Posted April 16, 2010 I ran the superantispyware and I think it removed the trojan, but now the desktop is fuckored. It wont even see the internet. It instantly says Firefox cant find the server at..... whenever I try to goto anything. I also tried to look at the router and it cant find that either. It didn't get ruined until Budell gave it away.So you guys are saying that I shouldn't be running Norton 360? I haven't had any problems with it but I'm not into the weird shit most of the folks around here are into.Norton is awful.In my experience, removing Norton is worse than removing half the viruses I've ever gotten.I'm running with literally no protection right now and doing just fine. Have you tried either CCleaner (http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/) or running the malware tools you have in safe mode w/networking? I actually had to do both for my step-brother's machine last week. He had an infection on his machine so bad that IE would not open and the HDD ran constantly. Booted up in SM w/networking and then downloaded CCleaner, ran it for both infections and the registry cleanup and he was back to flying right in about 20 minutes. Kosmo Posted April 16, 2010 Report Share Posted April 16, 2010 Malwarebytes is a popular free antispyware now (download.com have it) now....symantec in the safe mode (F8 while booting) should remove the backdoor trojan.....My desktop got infected while browsing porn with a bloodhound worm and a some trojans....I had trouble but could remove it by installing a renamed .exe file for malwarebytes......then symantec in safe mode. For example, you might have a virus that collects all your important information and then sends it out to the bad guys. You don't want to be the next guy in line to have your idenity stolen.Not a big fan of Ad-aware any more. Two programs to cross check is the best way to go about it if your concerned. I've had my fair share of fixes lately from co-workers and friends/family. With variants of Vundo/Antivirus Virus etc. Last pc I cleared off almost 900 virus's from safe mode and cross HD scanning and it was still so F'ed I just saved the my documents and flattened the drive.Windows can get so screwed up, its not always worth the time and effort into trying to fix it. Get a flash drive for backup and create two folders for yourself right from the start that all documents and pictures et cetera fall under..Work and personal. Keeps it simple.
