im not from cbus but was hanging with some friends down by the river about 12 am and we saw a group of pirates sitting by the ship. so we went down and they treated us like noobs for a few minutes then realized that we were serious and they decided not to stab us with their swords.

they were drunk and tired. and they began to tell us that the mayor is 'tired of putting money into the ship' and just wants to get rid of it. it needs repairs that might cost a total of 1000$.

but it was so cool, there were about 10 of them outside on land, and they said there were about 35 people in the ship sleeping, like their families. one guy was from scotland, others from random states. they had tours and a 'battle' today but i missed it.

they said that the ship in the scioto is the most accurate replica of the santa maria in the world.

you are here today because of columbus and his discovery = ) so dont let this historic piece of pride go down like yesterdays trash.

ride for the santa maria?

Is that thing a scaled down replica? Doesn't look very big for Columbus & crew to sail the ocean blue in 1492

Nope, pretty close to the real thing. Nobody really knows for sure, probably 70 to 87 feet long, and was the biggest of the three.

Google satellite image shows 80-85 feet deck with close to 100 feet overall.

Santa Maria (70-87 feet, crew of 40) aka La Gallega aka "The Galician" aka Marigalante aka "Gallant Maria" aka La Capitana aka La Nao

Pinta (65-85 feet, crew of 26) aka "The Painted"

Nina (65-70 feet, crew of 20) aka Santa Clara aka "The Girl"
