jporter12
Porter the won't sell you a mac until you lose the ponytail playa. Ponytails aren't trendy anymore? Damn, nobody told me. Now I haz a sad...Oh and for the record Porn killed Beta.I had forgotten about that. Beta was the better tech, and it didn't survive. For the young'uns, this was like the HD-DVD and BlueRay battle. I still think HD should have won.
Todd#43
One is about 4 years now that I think about it. 17" MBP. Got it whenever the dualcores came out. The other is a 15" MBP about 6 months old. 10 years? Yep for sure. I don't unload my tech. Shit I still have a VCR. And for the record I travel to the armpit of the internetz at least once monthly. So how much money do you have tied up in the mac's?The post was in reference to Natedogg's assertion that you'd spend MORE on a PC over time than you would on a mac.I'm still calling bullshit. redrocket04
Could you sell your 4 year old laptop for even 50% of what you paid for it, though? That's got to be factored somewhere. This Mac was about 2 years old, got it for around $900, and spent $0 upgrading to OS X 10.6 earlier this year. Granted, this was with the education discount, which saved me $100 or so.Meeting somebody this morning to sell it for agreed upon CL price of $750. This is without AppleCare. ICEMAN
after having my Macbook for 2 years and not the SLIGHTEST little bit of a problem or slowing down from brand new, ill NEVER go to a PC again. unless i need one to run my 3D design software. (doesnt work good on Mac's with Windows either). but thats the only reason. other than that, PHUK PC's. never had one for more than a few months without problems, whether it was a simple/small problem, or big problem. ive had a gateway, dell, HP, and a few others. never again.gLwS!!! if i needed another one, id steal this for 550, DAMN thats a good price!! i bought the accidental warranty with mine, its the plastic style, when its about up, im throwing it off a bridge, and getting all the pieces and taking it in to get my new aluminum body, LED screen, better graphics card, for 999, wait, for free, haha!!! redrocket04
So, how long did you have this used mac?I'm pretty sure my cost per year is less with the pc than the mac.Um, 2 years.
Todd#43
Haters .Not hating, I just don't understand why people pay soooo much more for them.Um, 2 years.Ok. I'm reasonably confident that I could sell my shitty pc notebook for $200 - I see them on CL and Ebay for around that money all the time.So lets look at the math:PC$400.00 (original purchase price - Brand new)$200.00 (estimated resale)$200.00 (net cost)$40.00 (cost per year at 5 years)Mac$1,000.00 (Original purchase price, minus your discount - 2 years old)$750.00 (reported resale)$250.00 (net cost)$125.00 (cost per year)Based on resale, your used mac cost 3x more than my brand new pc over the time we each had them. Fuck, I could throw this pc away today and it still cost less per year to use than your mac.

Todd#43
Im just a huge apple fan boy.Whatever floats your boat. They are a better product Explain it to me - what makes them better?but a lot more money. Is it worth it, to me yes.3 to 4 times the cost per year and its worth it? It'd have to suck my cock on a daily basis for me to spend that kind of coin on one. that dude
Better- ezness of them. Real simple to use. No viruses. When I had a pc I was always getting bugs. Too much porn maybe
that dude
I don't see how they are that much more than a pc. ID say 3-400 more
RSVDon
So, by the logic in this thread I should without a doubt buy a Toyota Camry. It has all the functions I need in a cheaper package and resale is good even though purchase price is cheap. It's not trendy or nice because you don't need those. It can be ugly and that's okay because it gets the job done for way cheaper. It's the logical choice.............FUCK THAT!I'll take my horrible resale, ridiculously overpriced, trendy, gas-guzzling sports car any day of the week.
