antatious
I am trying to find the little things (i think 5mm) that screw into your carburetor vacuum port holes and have a nozzle for a hose to attach to. I made my own carb synch tool, and am now finding out how hard it is to get just the carb synch adapters without buying a whole 50-$100 carb synch kit. They must have the market rigged. Ive called three honda dealerships who have denied me the individual part. All I want to do is synch my carbs Anyone ever use a rubber type seal for carb synching? I am thinking about just buying some stock bolts that my manometer will fit on and try drilling out the center of them.I will not give in to what I suspect is a stupid and cruel marketing scheme.Any info is much appreciated. magley64
can you find a brake bleeder that will fit?
antatious
I don't know anything about bleeding brakes. That is what I had done at my last ever trip to a mechanic. Everything from now on is my doing.I googled some brake bleeders though and it definitely looks like a posibility. As long as it snugly fits into my vacuum ports, it should work. It doesn't have to thread in, it just has to be air tight and by no means permanant. If those brake bleeder tips are generally rubber, it could work. I would feel more comfortable buying them in person to be sure it is compatible though. Do they carry such a device at advanced auto perhaps? Thanks for the quick, helpful reply
magley64
if advance or auto zone doesn't have them, i know napa typically does have an assortment on hand at any given time.
John
what kind of carbs are they? most ive seen have the nipple already attached. are you sure the ports arent on the intake manifold?
Aerik
My GS is the same way-- the ports are on the connection to the head, but you have to thread something into them. Let us know if you find anything.
RSVDon
what kind of carbs are they? most ive seen have the nipple already attached. are you sure the ports arent on the intake manifold? The CBRs have a small 5mm bolt on each intake runner. You remove the bolts and put in the 5mm long headed ports which have hose nipples on them.
antatious
what kind of carbs are they? most ive seen have the nipple already attached. are you sure the ports arent on the intake manifold?Ya, ive got one just to go to the gas tank which I can use. I still need another, and preferably the same size hole so my synch reading is accurate. RSV Don is right.I think tonight i'm going to drill a hole in a bolt and see if I can fit my hose on it. If it works i'll get back to you.
RSVDon
If you have time to wait, I'd search online for a 5mm thread NPT nipple part. They're probably like 5 for $2 or something somewhere.
antatious
Alright. Thankyou for that phraseology. It definitely helped my google searches. I am finding what I am looking for now but i'm just a little concerned about size. I am not entirely sure how the thread size and tube sizes are displayed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150454444327&crlp=1_263602_263622&ff4=263602_263622&viewitem=&guid=973edb341290a0e201d1e421fea1e458&rvr_id=&ua=WVI7&itemid=150454444327I guess that would work? The hose connection diameter looks a little small but i'm sure I can fix that if I need to. As long as it screws into my bike.
ReconRat
http://www.carbtune.com/This is in the UK, but something similar should be around in the USA.Both 5mm and 6mm are available.
ReconRat
Professional mechanic's tools:Not cheap...http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/CARBURETOR_SYNCHRONIZATION_ADA_P4995.cfm6mm set$46.44 at cheapcycleparts.com, and 64.95 SMRPalso 5mm set (two instead of four)http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/CARBURETOR_SYNCHRONIZATION_ADA_P4996.cfmedit: You better run a 5mm and/or 6mm thread into the hole and find out which one it is.And this is why no one will stock them for sale. No one will buy them at this price. Edited July 3, 2010 by ReconRat
ReconRat
oops, search over.http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/tools/category/syncpro_sup__trade___sup_/try these: $5.88 set of 4 (if it's 6mm)http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/08-0168/For 5mm, you might have to buy two sets of these: ($9.22x2= $18.44)or just cut the two long ones to be the short length, which is what I would do...http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/08-0013/edit: they are short and long for a reason, I think. Some bikes must need that. Edited July 3, 2010 by ReconRat
antatious
I'm glad I didn't go ahead and screw holes through my stock plug screws lol. I went ahead and ordered the 5mm short and long set of 4. I only need 2 at a time, so the different lengths won't be a problem. Thanks a lot for the link. Great find. I'll see how it works out in a few days.
jporter12
The MotionPro adapters are what I have. I broke one of the 5mm though. When I was ordering some parts anyway, I got a few more of the OE 5mm adapters to match the one that goes to the tank.
