Casper
Supposedly he's okay:A biker recorded himself riding directly into an oncoming minivan. The biker got banged up, and the driver of the minivan was just embarrassed to be seen in a minivan.
Steve Butters
good thing he had his gear onwtf happened? he get fixated on the van and just head on into it?
SAMBUSA
Looks like the van kept him from going off road. Looks like target fixation and the van just happened to be there.

Goldie
That is a perfect example of the 80% rule.Ride at 80% of your pace on a right hand turn, as you would the left.
max power
It looks like he locked up his back tire slid causing him to stand it up. You can see him lock it up in the second shot.Dont touch the rear brake in a turn.
SAMBUSA
Dont touch ANY brake in a turn.

oldschoolsdime92
Dont touch ANY brake in a turn.for most that is the case, unless you want to get into the trailbraking argument.
SAMBUSA
for most that is the case, unless you want to get into the trailbraking argument. Ya know, I had a lot longer post but didn't wanna get that argument started so I changed it I trail brake from time to time.
Radio Flyer
Doesn't a little bit of rear brake give you a little extra lean in if you know how to use it the right way?
YSR_Racer_99
Fixation. Seemed okay till he saw the van, then straightened up and headed straight for it.
InyaAzz
Some rear brake can be ok in a turn...but not many people have the skill to pull it off properly. So yeah...unless you know what you're doing....no brake is good brake. Edited August 17, 2010 by InyaAzz Hooked on phonics
Steve Butters
rear brake saved my ass in hocking one time....but i still an super paranoid about using it..it was definitely a last ditch effort lol and it was a very light usage
BadTrainDriver
He's lucky...in the fact he was going as fast as he was...and flew OVER the van...not into it....I'm just sayin...BTD.
Radio Flyer
It was all in the angle of the collision. It looked like he had target fixation on that van once he turned the corner.

Disclaimer
Some rear brake can be ok in a turn...but not many people have the skill to pull it off properly. So yeah...unless you know what you're doing....no brake is good brake.I don't really consider myself "skilled", but I often use the rear brake and trail brake with it into a turn. Right or wrong, I can feel the bike settle in the lean if I apply a little pressure on the rear sometimes -- and it doesn't stand the bike up on me.
