garage door opener problems

Im having issues with my garage door opener. I had to go out and buy a new drive gear and what not to fix it. I got the old one out, and put the new one in. But now, when i hit the button to open/close it. it will go about a foot, stop, and go back to where it was. I have the limits set to where they need to be, the sensors should be aligned, connected, and nothing obstructing them, so i can't figure out what the problem . If any one has any ideas, or help what so-ever, it would be appreciated. Let me know if you need more info.

did you re-use the wires from the motor to the safety sensors, or run new wire? Maybe there's a short in them?

If you pull the release handle thingy and run the door up and down by hand, does it go easily or does it bind?

I would disconnect the drive from the door and operate it manually to see if there's any drag on it somewhere. Seems like it's acting as if it's hitting resistance.

I was running it without the door attached to the chain, but the door goes up and down fine. Its been opened/closed manually for a couple months. And it was the same wires as before, which all worked fine. I may have found the porblem though. The rpm sensor is missing a peice it didnt have before, but decides now to not like that. I ordered the part, will be here next week, hopefully that will fix this damn thing.
