I dont think I have ever heard of a gun being specified as right or left handed. Like I said I dont know shit about guns so when I saw left handed it caught my attention. I didnt know about them either until a few years ago. Especially handy when you're shooting a semi-auto shotgun, the shells eject on the left side, instead of in your face.
