Saacattack
Hey guys,Quick question. I bought my 05 Kawi 636 about a year ago from someone who installed an after market LED tail light kit. as pictured below..My battery died and since Kawasaki made it a pain to get the battery out (unnecessary work) I had to detach the rear fairing. when I did that this happened...It looks like there is a type of glue or adhessive that holds it in place. So my question is...What should I use to put it back on? and since I have an under tail exhaust, wasn't sure if that played a factor. chevysoldier
Hey! You got pictures posted up! Schweet! You could probably just use epoxy or gorilla glue? Someone else might have a better idea.
JaSSon
Um, dude... The battery is under the seat. You don't have to take the tail fairing off to replace it. And just replace the tail light.
JStump
when i made LED tails for my car i used Loctite no mess adhesive from walmart, its easy to use and to wipe off if you make a mess but once it is hard its almost impossible to get back off. Bad324
yea removing the battery in a 636 is a bitch but not remove tail fairing bitch. Honestly, from what I've seen stock or aftermarket, half of the 636 had shitty fitment on the light. My 636 was bone stock and from the day I picked it up the taillight would not stay without adhesive keeping it tight on the fairing
Saacattack
@ JaSSon....yeah, it's more halfway under the seat, halfway under the tank. So let me rephrase that then. I didn't have to take the whole rear fairing off....but I had to take out two screws along both sides that hold the fairing under the seat
Saacattack
But all I'm asking is what would be best to put it back in place
Bad324
wait I don't know if I'm looking at this right but did the lens come off the actual light? or will the light not sit tight in the fairing?
ohdaho
I think the lens popped of. I wouldnt use gorilla glue just bc i dont think it dries clear. Get some epoxy.
Bad324
I'd go with some RTV if its the lens, withstands decent high heat applications so should be good enough for the taillight

Steve Butters
silly kawis....my buddy had a 636 with a stock tail light and it would always pop off while we were riding...i think eventually he just had it taped together to keep it in one piece
Saacattack
I definitely would want something clear. Any epoxy you'd recommend in particular? But the lens itself I'll mold back onto the light its self and then everything will fit in the fairing right? jagr
Run some grit around the edges to remove the old adhesive and ensure you get a good bond.
