I'm looking at a couple bikes at this place in cincy called racers edge, I was just wondering if anyone on here has had any dealings with them or has heard of anyone getting boned. I like to get feedback from other riders about places... Thanks in advance...

I went there once. Don't plan on haggling with them, they wont budge off their price. They buy salvage motorcycles at the insurance auction and sell them back to the public. Bottom line: they are essentially a motorcycle salvage yard that sells whole salvage title motorcycles. I was on their website today though, and it looked like almost everything worth having is on hold.

Since those are 100% salvage/auction bikes there, I'd have to wonder if it was from the Nashville flood area. Tons of vehicles were under water there.

Ohio and Columbus are notorious for having flood victim vehicles show up here for sale on local car lots. From all over the East coast states.

I'm with ohdaho on this one. I can remember running into bad reviews on the internet, but can find none now. Not surprised, it's the internet. I'd be checking it real close, for problems. It is what it is, a salvage bike. Good places will let you take it to a mechanic to check out first. Bad places will say no.

edit: when I was looking for 919s, they had a few. All were either too busted up or were over priced for what it was.

I've been looking at the honda 1300's they have...

Should find dealer or private 2004 to 2007 for 4800 to 6800 listed.

But I see what you mean, they have 9 of them for a lot lower price.

I would certainly consider this one in Picktown - 5600:

really low miles, if the speedo wasn't replaced.

http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/2225016098.html

or West Toledo - 3800:

http://toledo.craigslist.org/mcy/2185673074.html

or Trenton (Dayton) - 4500:

http://dayton.craigslist.org/mcy/2206058069.html

or Pittsburgh - 4895:

http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/2205777303.html

Ignoring the one in Kentucky that was already "laid down"...

The marketplace is pretty much flooded with used vtx1300,

so I'd think a couple of hundred bucks could be knocked off any price.

Thanks Tom... I knew I could count on the knowledge base around here... yeah I'm looking to find one I can turn into a custom bagger similar to what Hoblick is doing with his Yammy.... I know why ruin a perfectly good honda but I dig the looks of Hoblick's...

I found those on Search Tempest, a craigslist multi search engine.

There's a lot more VTX 1300s listed there.

Put a space in VTX 1300 to search with, instead of VTX1300.

Both in craigslist and in Search Tempest.

It makes a big difference on craigslist searchs.

  • 2 years later...

I just purchased a bike from them last week. I recommend going somewhere else. They said they would order me a helmet 50% off. They told me they just now received order confirmation for the helmey and are telling me there is a storage fee if i dont pick up the bike today. Management is denying my conversation with them about my concern about the storage fee if the helmet hasnt arrived. They said icould pick up the bike when they get the helmet no problem. Now they sa they would have never said that. Ive been seeing a majority of bad reviews for them. It seem they will lie and say anything to take your non refundable cash.

When i called and complained they showed no signs of remorse or any indication they would at least try to help. Just claimed i was lying and i coud buy a different helmet. Idiot if i wanted a different helmet i would hhave bought it. While im at it i'll go out back and get a different bike i also didnt want. Just terrible customer service, now im wondering if anything is wrong with the bike

I bought a salvage 09 gs500 from them 2 years ago (to learn basic riding skills) and everything went smoothly for me. Had the bike on hold and paid it off in a month, when I went to pick it up they also sold me any helmet I wanted in the store at 50% off, which was nice. Of course every experience is ymmv but If mine helps you out at all , then that's good.

I haven't been there but a guy at work spotted a bike on their site he liked, called about it and then drove 45 mins out to the shop to look at it. When he got there, the bike wasn't because it had been sold a few days before. He was pissed...the guy on the phone told him the bike was still there. An honest mistake perhaps.
