ohdaho
Shame on you MIL guys that failed to post this Last WWI Veteran PassesFrank Buckles passed away...he was the last surviving WWI veteran. He lied about his age in order to fight for his country. This is really sad to hear that an entire era of brave men have passed never to be replaced again. These guys are true heroes, soldiers, brother in arms, etc.
chevysoldier
Sad, very very sad. They were a different breed of soldier. I cannot even express my admiration for those who fought in WWI and WWII. May he, and all those other WWI vets, finally rest in peace. Thank you. scottb
It is amazing. I am sure there are books and other web projects out there to document history from those that have lived it.In highschool, my grandmother lived us. At the time, I thought is was a burden to "have to" help grandma. When you are 16 / 17, the last thing you wanted to do was take grandma to the doctors on a Saturday morning. But I changed my focus. I recall her stories about the first time she saw an automobile, airplane and electric light bulb.

motociclista
To me, the most amazing part was not only that he served in WWI, but that he also was a POW in WWII!
