tyler524- your a moron for thinking that m and d have the same weight.

for example 6/3*4.

6/3=2 2*4=8

6*3=18 18/4=4.5

3*4=12 6/12= .5

how you figure??? i completed high school, how bout you?

I am a project engineer at 21 so I am a huge dumbass to get where I am. I bought a 7 year old house at 19 a brand new truck at 21 and started college at 16 and no my parents haven't paid for shit. Division is just the multiplication of a reciprocal, that is how they are the same weight.

yet i proved it mathmatically. that works as a fraction, NOT a division. use the actual division symbol not the fraction symbol. my girlfriend took accounting and she even learned that there is a difference between the fraction and division symbol and it would be marked wrong on a test. congrats on being a success at a young age, but your not right about everything. so your saying that the goodyear engineer is a "huge dumbass" to be where he is as well?

 omg....youre so fucking stupid and youre too oblivious to realize it....this shit is awesome...i love this thread

2 or 288 idgaf anymore, scottie is wrong no matter what the answer is

m and d have the same weight....i think you need to hop on the special bus and take a refresher course at your local middle school bubby

those all say youre wrong. and those were just the top 4 hits in google

your example: 6/3*4 ... 6/3 = 2 *4 = 8....according to you, the answer is .5 because 6/(3*4) is .5....but without those parenthesis, its 8

type that into ANY calculator and you will get 8

furthermore - PEMDAS is just an acronym...you know another acronym for order of operations?

BEDMAS

Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction

so, will you PLEASE shut the fuck up and stop calling people out with wrong information

Last try...

Algebraically a(b+c) => (ab + ac). This has to be true, it's a basic principle of algebra. Without it, everything changes. Let's prove it.

Prove: here is an implicit set of brackets

2(9+3) => (2 x ( 9 + 3 ))

Assumed: Calculators and programming languages can't see the solution without the implied implicit set of brackets and will not interpret it correctly. They need help.

Use the calculator for proof of it's own results:

A reverse proof to solve for unknown will demonstrate this.

48÷y(9+3)=2 or 48÷y(9+3)=288

Substituting y for the implicit multiplicand, y will equal 2 for whichever answer is correct, the 2 or the 288

Neither of these give the correct answer, both are false.

The calculator can't prove it. Or the calculator proves the calculator can't do it.

Try again with the implied:

48÷(y(9+3))=2 or 48÷(y(9+3))=288

one of these is true, and the other is false

Repeat the proof using (9y+3y) instead of y(9+3):

The same results for all four cases.

The correct expression tree is:

..(/)

../ \

48 (*)

...../ \

....2 (+)

......./ \

.......9 3

Done. This cannot be disproved without errors in the rebuttal or warping Space/Time...

In case you're wondering... 48/2(9+3) instead of 48÷y(9+3) will totally fail with most calculators. Only a pencil and/or knowledge will solve that reliably.

edit: and here's hoping I didn't make a mistake... durrr

There isn't really. Both answers could be, because it's one of those problems with a loophole. If you search it on google websites you'll find that it is used for trolling and to start confrontations. It was a fun time, but it's worn out already in just 2 days.
