ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department announced today (March 20) some exciting activities associated with the annual spring football game slated for Saturday, April 11, at noon at Michigan Stadium.

"I hope that a large crowd will show up April 11 and help us break the Michigan spring game record for attendance," said head coach Rich Rodriguez. "We are real excited that our former players are interested in playing a flag football game. That alumni contest and the promotions associated with the spring game plus the other sporting events on campus should make for a fun Saturday."

The athletic department has set a goal of 40,000 fans for this year's spring game in hopes of doubling the effort next season. Rodriguez and the U-M football program would like to break the record of 92,138 fans at Alabama's 2007 spring football game sometime in the near future.

The parking lots surrounding Michigan Stadium will be available to accommodate fans that wish to tailgate for the spring game. All Gates (1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 10) will open at 9:30 a.m. Certain restrooms and concessions will be open to the public, but a final determination will be made at a later date based on the construction schedule.

The Michigan Marching Band, the cheerleaders and the dance team will participate in the spring game.

Michigan Rewind, the athletic department's online football recap show, will have a complete highlight package and interviews with Rich Rodriguez and players available on MGoBlue.com following the conclusion of the final practice.

Following are some of the confirmed activities for the annual spring game:

Locker Room Tours: Fans can tour and take photos in the Michigan team locker room from 8-10 a.m. Each locker will be set up with player uniforms and will look exactly the way that it does on game day. Fans will exit the locker room at the spot where Go Blue is painted at the top of the tunnel.

Former Players Flag Football Game: Prior to the final practice, former Michigan football greats will participate in a flag football game. Gary Moeller will coach the maize squad and Jerry Hanlon will coach the blue team. The one-hour alumni game will begin with player introductions at 10 a.m.

Student Section Blocked Off: U-M will block of the first 20 rows of seats in sections 24 and 25 for student seating at the spring game.

Check MGoBlue.com for announcements on the alumni flag football game roster and additional promotions involving the spring football game.
