A little help needed, please

Hi, everyone.

I was hoping to find someone on here who could help me locate the site of the old Badlands MX track in Belpre where the East-West Challenge was held in the early '70s.

Though I'm doing research on something unrelated, I need to use the track as a landmark for reference and I cannot find it on the current satellite image of the area.

It should be somewhere off of Farson Street on the north side of 50, but nothing around there even looks like anything that used to be a track. I don't know if it's just grown over now or what.

If anyone could help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

-Dale

Sounds like a task for reconrat, good luck with you search and welcome!

lol, stop that... As much as I got around, I was never at that track. The only good reference I found to it was on a Penton motorcycle forum. Penton and Bultaco were pretty strong in racing back in the day. I even checked USGS topographic maps, but an OLD topographic map is needed, that might have still showed the track. But yeah, maybe call a local motorcycle shop and ask. Probably across the river in Parkersburg.

Ask wade195 on the pentonusa.org forum. He used to race there. Or Gary Roach on the same forum, he lived near there.

Found here: http://www.pentonusa.org/forum/pop_printer_friendly.asp?TOPIC_ID=5594

edit: that track had a jump that dropped close to 100 feet. One of the biggest dirt track jumps anywhere.

I'm hoping some one who lives in that area will remember it.

Thanks, Casper.

I actually did that last weekend and left two messages on his voice mail. The first was cut off because his inbox apparently ran out of memory.

Then I checked back later and they must have cleared it out because I was able to leave my contact information the second time, but I've never heard back from him.

Maybe I'll try it again though if I don't have any luck over at the pentonusa forum.
