I got 2 viruses using MSE. so I'm not a big fan but it has caught 3 or 4 other things. and I do not browse porn etc. they were from links in searches using google. so I stopped using google and haven't had issues with hoax websites in searches since.

If you are using IE as your browser, I would stop.

Avira Antivirus, bar-none for me. They consistently get the highest number of positive detections then any other paid/free antivirus programs in the stats I have read. It also gets the highest number of false-positives, so if you know what is good and supposed to be there on your computer you won't have a problem but will have to label a few things as safe. If you don't know your system that well or what you install then I would recommend AVG.

I bought Nod32. I don't even notice it running. I WAS running MSE, as well, but I just looked down and it isn't in the system tray. Maybe I just never installed it on this computer?

I haven't even had a virus pop up in forever. I even use IE from time to time (for stuff for work that won't run on Chrome.)

Never liked norton for the reason that it always slowed down my computer. Just d/l MSE and using firefox. Last comp i had I actually never had AV software, just used firefox and if i had a problem i ID'd itand search for the solution on google. Hopefully this will be good enough to keep the comp running and secure.

Thanks for all of the input, absolutely love my computer.
