concealed weapons are banned on A&M's campus.

jus' sayin'.

we saw what happened the other day in that gun shop when someone tried hitting a place where weapons are not just allowed, they're encouraged.

That contributed nothing. The shooting wasnt even on campus.

Most at the school are pro-gun republicans anyways. It's one of the safest campus's around...atleast was. I've never felt threatened in all my years there.

Longtime law enforcement officer Brian Bachmann was shot in killed while serving paperwork at a home in College Station early this afternoon.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, also died, but not before shooting several others, including a College Station police officer who was shot in the leg, according to authorities. The officer was in “stable” condition and expected to survive.

Witnesses in the neighborhood said the suspect was shot by SWAT officers, but police have not confirmed that.

At least five people were taken to the College Station Medical Center but it wasn’t known if all were gunshot victims; a woman was taken to St. Joseph in Bryan. Her condition was listed as “unknown.”

The incident appears to have unfolded about 12:15 p.m. at a house in the historical district of the city close to George Bush Drive. The Eagle’s police scanner early on picked up dispatchers saying that two officers were wounded.

Authorities confirmed within 30 minutes of the first call that the suspect was in custody. The person apparently led police on a brief chase to Wellborn Road.

Officials at the scene would not release any information, other than to say the public was not in danger. It wasn’t clear how many people were shot and if any civilians were wounded, but initial scanner reports said hospitals should expect “mass casualties.”

Assistant Police Chief Scott McCollum said officers were on the scene and they’d have more information shortly.

Texas A&M released a Code Maroon warning at 12:29 p.m. advising all students, staff and members of the public to avoid the area southeast of Wellborn Road and George Bush Drive, and to stay inside if they lived on Fidelity Street. A second warning was issued at 12:44 stating the shooter was in custody, but people should continue to avoid the area.

Wellborn Road near the Texas A&M campus is shut down.
