I think you can also just scan with the auto feeder as well. and use the standard scan system for a fax too.and since it's a officejet (not a standard home edition) you can use all of it's features without your computer. fax, scan and print a document, print your photos etc..it might even have the duplexer on the back that allows you to print on both sides of the paper.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00228558&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=421991#N97they're good printers. but make sure you download the latest drivers for it. the orginal drivers suck bad. for the longest time HP couldn't get them to reliably work. many many complaints on their forums about it. but now it seems to be all sorted out with the newest version of their software.
