ReconRat
Verizon was fined for trying to stop people from using tethering apps. Their response was to roll tethering into the new plans and raise the cost the same amount as what adding tethering would cost. For everyone, regardless of whether you used it or not.Worse, tethering still violates the old plan agreement regardless of court decisions, and they can occasionally catch and force people to add the option or upgrade. I've heard of no one anywhere that had to do that.I use PdaNet to connect tablet to phone, when wireless is not available. Bluetooth or USB. SWing'R
I just installed it and tried it. It worked, pretty easy, and it had pretty good connection.I guess it will be okay for what I want, not planning on sucking the life out of the bandwidth. Just want to use it to quickly connect my work laptop toour work vpn for closing my calls, getting my new calls and email.I have a company supplied sprint air card but its a pain in the ass to plug itin, wait for it to initialize, wait for it to connect, blah blah blah. Slowwww.Will give this foxfi a try tomorrow at work on the road.Verizon was fined for trying to stop people from using tethering apps. Yeah I read that article earlier tonight before posting this thread. $1.25million!

serpentracer
I use easy tether. but it's not free. $10 I think. but it works great.cricket throttled my internet speed after I used so much bandwith lol but they changed it back a week later after I quit using it. and I have an unlimited plan. I would bet verizon will do the same thing.

Gonna try it out later todayand see if I can get on our vpn with it.
imaposer
I use it on sprint. Works great, no issues at all. Yes, it breaks your TOS agreement. I haven't heard of anyone having issues over that though.I don't know about verizon, but on the last major software update to ICS, sprint put a stop to it. I rolled my phone back to the old software to get it back. The only reason I keep sprint and their crappy coverage is the unlimited data plan with no throttling, and the ability to let the kids tap on to the wifi on long drives. SWing'R
I used it today in my work van to connect to my work vpn. Took just about 2minutes to connect, download new email and new call information and log back off. I would have still been waiting for my damn Sprint SmartView air card to initialize in the time it took me to accomplish everything I needed to do! It's a keeper. SWing'R
I've got a new phone on a new network that I'm evaluating and it has a tether/wifi hotspot function built in to the phone The plan is unlimited voice/talk/text/no contract so I am using it as a hotspot for my work laptop while on the road it's working great!
